So apparently Iran is no exception to the declining fertility rates being experienced elsewhere around the globe. The state is even going so far as to pass laws encouraging people to reproduce.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/iran/11768334/Irans-rulers-urge-a-baby-boom-to-double-population-by-2050.html

Here’s a quote of a section which stood out to me:

The authorities are passing new laws to encourage Iranians to procreate. Bill number 446, currently before parliament, would ban voluntary sterilisation and end all state support for family planning.

Meanwhile, the “Exaltation of Family Bill” would force all state and private sector entities to discriminate against single people in the jobs market. Article nine says the government and businesses alike should only employ single people “in the absence of qualified married applicants”.

This would render Vasectomies illegal & no more jobs for single people, sounds like a bad strategy to me. I hope these initiatives fail miserably lest other nations should follow suit, as the article suggested economic factors are likely responsible for the lower rate of births, as studies such as this one suggest:

    http://www.prb.org/Publications/Datasheets/2012/world-population-data-sheet/fact-sheet-us-population.aspx

In the United States and other developed countries, fertility tends to drop during periods of economic decline. U.S. fertility rates fell to low levels during the Great Depression (1930s), around the time of the 1970s “oil shock,” and since the onset of the recent recession in 2007

I do not believe draconian population control will help the state solve this issue in Iran or anywhere else, the problem is a lack of opportunity for young people, who in turn do not wish to build upon the shoddy foundations inherent in the current social & economic system.

The text in Italics is quoted from the articles.

Perhaps the American politicians should move all the single welfare moms into FEMA camps for future procreations, two or three per stall, hay, and a watering trough! Oh yea, include a Michelle Obama nutrition plan, all the good foods ground into a paste, then baked, they can call it SOYLENT GREEN!
