    New iPhone Face Unlock Details

I know a work collegaue ( female ) who broke up with her ex BF of 7 years like this: She waited till he was asleep, then unlocked his iPhone by putting his finger on the fingerprint reader. Then she was able to detective his whereabouts and other people he met, concluded that excess flirting meant “cheating on her”… and thus ended the relationship.

This new iphone replaces fingerprint with facial recognition. IT has one safeguard : your eyes must be open – so it wont work when asleep. But police or criminals can just grab your phone and point at your face and then it is unlocked…

Summary: Seems like it might be harder to keep your phone details private. And of course, women cannot be trusted.

Or turn off touch ID / Face ID and just use a passcode. You are legally required to provide fingerprints (when arrested / under caution) and can’t do anything about your face but you do not have to tell anyone your passcode.

But your point is valid and well made. Women can’t be trusted – BEWARE!

Mine was made in the 70’s and has an analog/digital switch.

What’s an I phone? Oh yea, I received one as a gift, it’s covered in dust and the battery is dead.

I still have one old rotary dial phone in my house. When people ask me “How does it work?” I just tell them that it’s voice activated… 😀

I have a jailbroken iphone6s running 9.3.2. I use touchID. Only have one finger registered. Some risks I know, but my approach is this. I power off at night or when not in use (powerup required passcode before touchid works ). If police took my phone and forced (legally or not) me to fingerprint unlock, I would tap wrong finger on sensor. After 5 failed tries, passcode is required. Or I would power off phone if given the opportunity.. Unless I have similar possibilities to prevent access I would not enable facial recognition, but unlikely to get iphoneX for about 2 years anyway….

    Nokia 3310…

Not completely safe ! Police can easily extract your SMS and call history . But yes, safer than smartphones, as they have GPS logging and photos and email and all sorts of other data also…

I don’t care for these fancy phones. I have a SafeLink Trac phone and all I need it for is taking/giving calls and texts. I don’t need another computer or video game wherever I go.

‘Smartphones’ are mobile spy devices. At least with an simple cellphone you can pull the battery out of it with ease so you know it is turned off.

My smartphone has the cameras covered with painter’s tape. I also keep its mic right next to a radio playing at a low volume. You’d be surprised how effective it is.

Fourier techniques can be used, but I raise the cost of listening to my boring life.

I should build a smartphone box that plays Slayer at 160db.

    Nokia 3310…

    Nokia Classic 6500

    Sleek phone.

Apart from the freedom of constant pressure of marketing of next big thing, the limited functionality of non-smart phones prevents distractions and eventually self-esteem issues.

Everyone on the internet is better than me. I don’t need to constantly be made aware of that.

Now the masses can spend hours months before launch date reading ‘leak’ of octacore, 20MP, marketing phone in hopes of selling folks happiness. Written by some hip blogger at Starbucks.

I had this very same thought.

While I don’t have anything on my phone, I don’t want it to be as easy as waving it in my face and tap it a couple of times.

I used to work with a guy who had face recognition on his phone for his security setting. His gf after they had an argument, took his phone while he was sleeping and used his face to open his phone and caught him cheating. I keep a passcode on my phone.

Fellas, don’t let her take selfies with your iPhone X. She’s really setting up Face ID for her access to your phone.

    Yeah AWALT !

The fact is I have never never never had the desire to look at what photos or texts are on the phone of a GF.. Really just never ever had any interest in that. But they are always only one tizzy fit away from trying to break into the phone of their male partner.

you do not have to tell anyone your passcode.

Until they make you do it. This is not the 1950s.
