I literally just got a 2 year contract on the iPhone 6 the day before they released the iPhone 6s….

I’m kinda disappointed that it’s the same size as the 6, I was really hoping that it would be closer to a 5s in size.
Given how much Apple keep a tight hold on how their tech can be used along with their high prices, they should really have their s~~~ together when it comes to OS updates.
I’m glad i stick to Windows. Even with my tablet i’d prefer my £60 Android over an iPad any day.
I have a dumb phone. I regard it as an emergency communication device only, the same as a 2m ham radio. I have saved countless bucks by doing it this way, although I am sliced out of checking my email while standing in line at the supermarket.
The email will keep until I’m home again, and the money I save goes into other forms of entertainment.

have an LG tracfone (paid .00 US) off the internet. Triple minutes & time whenever I recharge it. Best bucks I ever spent, ever.
the money I save goes into other forms of entertainment.
For that very reason. More cash for blu rays, games, etc.
Gotta be honest i kinda followed the heard where smart phones were concerned, My verdict would be that they are a wholly major waste of time and money, the contracts are a joke. I always end up with big bills saying i exceeded texts and calls! I hardly use the bloody thing!
I never use internet and i don’t get time at work to mess around on it even if i did!
When my contract ends i’ll be getting an 80’s style brick pay as you go that will cost me £2 a month instead of the £50 average i seem to spend now!
Rant over boys. sorry. Carry on! Lol
Clint: I agree! I didn’t even have a smartphone until 2 years ago, when my employer issued me an iPhone. Before that, I had an ancient relic flip phone. Even when you’re paid well, $70/month or whatever people pay these days, adds up over a decade or two. I’ve also never understood the need to have a personal phone when you have a work phone… If I did have to have a smartphone, I’d just buy the phone, even if $500, rather than be beholden to the contract. If you want a personal number, just install Google Voice on your work phone!
It’s not the latest model (it’s a 5s I think), but it works fine. I just use it for all my (few) personal calls, they could care less. So it saved me the $20 a month or whatever I used to pay on flip phone (I bought minutes for it, so it was really, really cheap, pay-as-you-go). And if I drop the damn thing or it breaks, it’s on the employer to pay for repairs, not me. Through no fault of mine the charging port broke, so I had it fixed on their dime.
I do like the GPS (when I have to go to unfamiliar places), and for work, the ability to use Google Voice for phone messages so it transcribes them (text to speech) and sends me a text message — I love that — e-mails me an audio file and transcript too, so if battery is dead or I forget phone I can still check voicemail. I send maybe 30-40 texts a month (99% for work), and that is convenient, as is the GPS, but I find it ridiculous how people are ‘wed to their phones’. Having to carry the damn thing with me all the time in case of emergencies at work is more nuisance than anything! And the software is over-rated — e.g. I switched my voicemail to Google Voice from built-in iPhone software since it works so much better. I do like the camera capability to photographs parts, equipment nameplates, etc for work & e-mail images.
I also like having the ability to share internet with my tablet to read newspapers, etc when away from home, but again not something I’d pay for out of my own pocket!
If work didn’t provide it, I wouldn’t bother. I also dislike the way they are a status symbol — ‘my iPhone 6 is bigger than your iPhone 5s’. Geez… And everybody having to get a goddamn new one every 2 years, but then again, I’m driving around a car that’s 7 years old so I’m cheap.
I have bought lots of Apple stock over the years, though, and that was smart as it’s gone up a lot.
MonkeyMind: I did buy an iPad, mainly because I’m used to the apps/interface on the phone & it plays well with the phone — but it’s certainly overpriced! I have a $60 android tablet I use at work (I’m not worried about anybody swiping it) & I keep my iPad at home.
