Ghosting is how I go my own way.

I learned from the bitter experiences of others that marriage wasn’t for me; this was in my grade school years. I was still a blue pill woman chaser my teens and twenties (bolting when words like commitment and marriage got bandied about). I worked for the man (saving and investing all the while). Even in my blue pill days, there was enough red pill in me to keep me out of the worst scrapes — which are marriage and debt the twin shackles of the social order.

Finally, I positioned myself financially so I could drop out with a modest income. I had never heard the term ‘ghosting’ but that is what I did. Now, Sandman has explained it for me in these videos.

Ghosting is what I do with my life — with modifications to suit my preferences. It’s a pretty mild form of ghosting, compared to the life-in-the-wild stories Sandman relates, but I do live well inside my means and entertain myself with cheap or free diversions. I am not at the beck and call of anyone — except the minimum needed to keep from living on the streets, and my dog has demands. So, I’m not truly free like that guy who lived in the woods for thirty years.
