Intro + Concise Story of How I Got Here

Hi everyone! Impressive forum.

Quick run-down/intro:

So I spent 8 Years as an orbiter to my childhood crush (Yup, wow. Sucks to admit that one). 4 Years as a beta being used. She “settled” for me. I thought I’d finally won her over, I sure was wrong. Long story short she ditched me because I’d “changed”. Bright Side: No Children. It wasn’t til a few more years later that I found TRP and another year til realizing there is no winning that game even if you get what you thought you wanted. From then I decided to concentrate on attaining peace and quiet, focusing on hobbies and building a nest egg for a safety net and peace of mind should I no longer be able to work one day. Came here to read others experiences and maybe chime in with the odd anecdote if I think it’l help the OP.

I’ll “lurk” for a while, pick up the rhythm and etiquette before making further posts.

Winning is what you make of it. After a jacked up end to a 4 year LTR I started backpacking again. I had no clue how much I missed that after the Ex burned me on a few trips and had gotten me out of the hobby with her goal orianted hiking and making me take care of her dog and all the logistics because she “didn’t have the resources after working on her PhD all week” never mind she had one client out of school doing therapy (sitting a talking with a bitch who wanted to be a boy in this case) for one f~~~ing hour a week. I’m self-f~~~ing-employed an work an easy 60-80 hours a week and she couldn’t help with s~~~ so I got burned out on it.

After my first solo hike in the Texas Desert I found myself again.
To me, THAT was winning.
This is Winning.
