Interesting article on world wide birth rate decline

Came across this article which I thought was quite interesting. A graph shows the decline in birth rates for different parts of the world,  the Mid East, Africa and South Asia take a huge dive around 1990. I’m not against a drop in the population, but curious to know why as well, not that I have to think too hard as to the cause.

There is come concern about phthalates and BPA – these are softening agents found in plastics and have spread throughout our environment.  BPA acts as a suppressor of testosterone whereas phthalates mimic estrogen (might be the other way around, can’t remember 100%). It is having crazy effects on aquatic life apparently.  There is data to suggest that men today produce 3/4 of the sperm our great grandfathers did.  Might account for women hitting puberty earlier these days.

So ya… less sperm + crazy women = decline in population.
