While searching through the Man Cave Site, I found an old vintage Coca Cola $0.05 sign I like to get for my man cave bedroom. While searching eBay for other ones, I found a lot of old vintage signs, menu boards and other hotdog/hamburger diner stuff.
I was born in 1982, but those old 50’s diners looked real neat, I wish they were still around today, such as Big Boy. The only old classic diners still around is one in Universal Studios in Florida and they have old vintage 30s cars (hotrods). But still wouldn’t it be neat to see old 50s style diners and still at 50s prices, where a hamburger was only 15 cents and a hotdog was just a dime and a milk shake was 20 cents?
I like old vintage things in a lot of its fashions. In fact, when I get the space and extra money, I want to buy an old fashioned Shell Gas Station gas pump for my future man cave.
I have to say between the 50s – mid 90s were a great time to be alive. I only got to see most of the 80s and all of the 90s during that time period. I just wish the millennials would have an appreciation for vintage America; maybe those old diners, ice cream parlors and hotdog/hamburger stands would still be in business. Unfortunately, millennials are putting a lot of business out of business all because of their laziness and internet shopping.
These are some of the things I’m considering getting for my man cave bedroom that mean vintage America:

Americana is the coolest stuff around.
A true golden age of design.
The cars are far and away the best looking pieces of art ever produced in my humble opinion.
From 1930 to 1970. The American car designs and absolutely beautiful. Nothing like it.The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape, finding oneself in the ranks of the insane. Marcus Aurelius

Obviously you haven’t been to Vermont, those old diners are the latest new! Otherwise the newest pane of glass predates the civil war, the electric grid was hand wired by Edison, The bridges are made of wood, the roads are all natural, and many farms are still without electricity. The schools have slate & chalk computers!
You would like Vermont, wanna buy a house? Some of those old enamel signs can be sold on for good money.
I know they sound a bit manginery in how they speak but this programm is one of teh few tv shows i watch

Anonymous12I love old stuff, not just Americana but anything old and from a Western culture. Things were definitely better back then.
Anonymous14I am about a decade older than you Resident, but I am the same way, I like stuff from the 50’s to 80’s. After the 80’s everything headed more and more towards designed obsolescence… Corporations looked for ways to increase profit every single f~~~ing quarter… Everything has declined. One thing that I took note of late in the game was artwork for movie posters, it is all gone now… They just don’t pay artists anymore for advertising like they did up until the mid to late 80’s or so. A great example is having a look at the Bond movie posters over the years… What was once art became just a collage of pictures and some graphics assembled in about 15 minutes apparently.

In spots here in Florida there’s places like that too. Ocala and other places have what’s called Johnny Rockets which is a 50’s style restaurant. Sonic also does the classic “rollerskate service to your car”. Also a good place to find vintage stuff like you mentioned is Cracker Barrel, or the flea market.
