I was truly surprised by the degree of hatred in her eyes. She really wanted me dead. And I didn’t do anything except take assigned hospital call on a few Sunday’s instead of driving her to her church.

Looking back, the pain was partly my fault. I made myself vulnerable to a crazy lady. Trying to change her was pointless. I now know better.

Not much of a comfort, but in someways it is better to be the victim than the perpetrator. An incredible amount of hate is required to say something like that to a person you at one time cared about. Although I definitely agree that it, whatever it is, expresses itself as hatred, I think it’s actually something deeper then that.

One of the moments I’ll always remember is a time I was picking up the kids a couple months after she and I had separated. I kind of lost it in front of her and the kids. Not some crazy emotional outburst, but it was quite clear that I was feeling emotionally devastated and hurt by all that was going on. It obviously mattered to me tremendously.

This was in front of the woman I had dedicated so much of myself to over the years. She had promised to always be there.

Her response was to emotional question whether I was emotional competent to take care of the kids at that time. No concern for me, no empathy, no thought what so ever.

That moment clicked for me, and my ex never got to see any moment of vulnerability from me ever again.

All my ex wanted was my death, so she could collect on my pension death benefit. The new chad was already lined up.

I frequent this site almost on a daily basis. This thread originated on 9/20. The statement still haunts me to this day which is six days later.

There are times when people making statements like this are beyond commentary (not suggesting that those who have commented on the original post are wrong).

This statement reminds me of Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s documentation in his masterpiece , “Gulag Archipelago”, of Vladimir Lenin’s request to his attorney general that terror should be the basis of law. Solzhenitsyn’s response is not to comment but rather to silence and reflection.

For a person to say this to another human being goes beyond any secular comprehension but must be understood in the spiritual realm. Statements like these helps me to understand how the Holocaust and the Gulags happened in the twentieth century, when the belief that getting rid of religion and replacing it with science was man’s salvation.
