Yes, I’m an idiot! I’ll tell you why. Remember I mentioned about upgrading my surround sound receiver and I chose one that was going for $349.99 at Best Buy? Well last night I found one at $229 for the same brand new model, and as I was going to buy it, it’s already been sold. That was going to be a $120 save, and I blew it. I found it last night and I was dumb enough not to get it last night; I waited overnight just long enough for someone else to get it. Now to save money I need to buy an open box item from Best buy for $269. S~~~! I guess this is like jobs, you need to be on top with them.

If you’re trying to save money – craigslist is your friend. If it’s not on craigslist – it’s on ebay.
Check your local pawn shops – plenty of receivers there. If you want brand new – check Tigerdirect.com newegg.com or BHphotovideo.com
The only reason to go to bestbuy – is to compare and window shop

I personally would never spend over 150 on a receiver and speakers, but it’s just me – a f~~~ing cheapskate thrifty motherf~~~er. You make your own decisions.

The $229 receiver I lost out on was on eBay. It’s wasn’t open box either. A woman bought it for her husband and because it wasn’t the one he wanted, she couldn’t return it, but sold it on eBay.

Alright let me check out those other places.

Actually I’m not an idiot anymore. I got the same receiver off Amazon for $229 + $10 for 100 feet of speaker wire with a $50 gift card. So that $350 item, now is $197 for the receiver and speaker wire. The receiver IS used, but it’s not been used-used meaning it’s only been taken out of the box, it comes with accessories all included. So that’s a save right there.

I pushed a Porsche 944 to the end of my street, put a for sale sign on it for $500 just to get rid of it! It needed new points, that’s all. It was GONE in a couple hours. The next day a guy showed up and told me the day before he drove by it with the money in his pocket, he walked away kicking himself in ass, and I think he’s still kicking himself inn the ass to this day…

I just lost out on two 55 gallon drums of brand new hydronic heating system antifreeze, all because my phone wasn’t working.

My point is, DROP whatever the f~~~ you’re doing, be the early bird, and grab that worm!

That happened to me with a CAR once – similar to MG-Tower (above). Boy was I ever p~~~ed.

Here’s how you have to look at it….

Calculate how much you earn in an hour vs. how much effort and time you obsess about “trying to get a deal”. Some people throw away all kinds of time and energy just to “SAVE” a little on a purchase.

Take Black Friday “sales” for example. Standing in line, dealing with traffic, the hoards of people, parking, then you probably buy yourself LUNCH and a coffee because you’re exhausted. It’s not worth it just to save $50 on a blue-ray player.

I would rather walk in there on a Tuesday night 10 minutes before closing. pick the thing up and be out of there right away.

This is your home theatre. You’re going to “save” by watching s~~~ at home and not going to the theatre anyway! That’s parking, time, traffic, popcorn and a soda… and you won’t have to sit in a theatre with sticky floors while listening to the Bus Driver behind you explain “film-making” to his wife.

    Justified.
It will pay for itself over time.
Don’t even beat yourself up over it.

American Arlines might sell you a ticket for $30 less than everyone else. You spend the time finding “the deal” and when you get to the airport, the f~~~ers charge $30 for the suitcase.

Some people want to “save” on airfare and opt for a connecting flight! They might save $200 but they are beating off at the airport for 4 hours. Forget it.

My mother still clips coupons. She will drive across town to save 10 cents on a head of lettuce. I’m not kidding.

Once, she subjected my Dad and me to 2 hours of torture to try and “save money” by trying to find Gas 10 cents cheaper / per gallon. When we FINALLY pulled over, she came out of the gas station with 3 chocolate bars which she blew the “savings” on.

I was SO MAD, I threw it in the ditch. True story. My Dad died two weeks later. Probably from listening to that s~~~ for 40 years.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.

I have a Yamaha RX-V373B received barely used (maybe 8 hours on it) I’ll cut you a deal on if it’s the type you would like. Just look up the model number online to do your research.

Thanks, but I don’t need a deal on another receiver. I bought one this afternoon for $197 including 100 feet of speaker wire. It’s a Sony STRDH750 7.2 Channel. I got it cheap off of Amazon, because they gave me a free $50 gift card. I don’t know why, but I won’t complain that I saved $183 on the sound system and speaker wires. I wish Best Buy would of had a better price, because I am more loyal to them than Amazon, but I’m always loyal to money saving above both.

Besides it high time to get this new one because mine is so old it doesn’t even support HDMI. It’s a 2004 Circuit City store display item I bought for $150 12 years ago. It’s a Sony 6.1 surround.

I just can’t wait to get it so I can play Call Of Duty and Resident Evil on it. If it sounds as good as what I have now, it’ll be glorious later. I think my first movie with be one of the Ice Age movies, because of the HD picture and sound.

Except for Ninja Turtles, I’m not big into superhero movies. I’m not into Superman, Batman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Captain America or Fantastic Four. I’m not much into comic books. The only comic books that became movies I like are: Conan the Barbarian/Destroyer and Ninja Turtles and I’m not all that thrilled with the Nickelodeon era Turtles.
