Hey guys! If the MGTOW website would have a tune or song to go along with it – what would it be?? I am not saying there should actually BE one, I am just having a little fun.

I am kinda old school. I have always liked Du Hast – by Rammstein. Some of the German speaking / reading folks that contribute here can correct me if I am wrong – but I think the song is about a man not wanting to get married, even though the girl is pressuring him into it.

Besides – those dudes kick ASS.

This song is pretty old. I think Rammstein was probably going MGTOW before (possibly) it was a big thing.

Well unencumbered as you most probably know the chorus (“Du… Du hast… Du hast mich… Du hast mich… Du hast mich gefragt… Du hast mich gefragt… Du hast mich gefragt… …und ich hab nichts gesagt…”) basically sais –> “you’ve asked me and I said nothing to answer you…” whilst the short phrase “Du hast mich” if spelled slightly differently (the word hast with double “s” –> Du hasst mich; still pronounced the same way though) would in that case mean “you hate me” interestingly enough. So as the word riddle or phrase muddle up double meaning thingy could be translated as: “You… you hate… you hate me… you hate me… you’ve asked me… you’ve asked me you’ve asked me… … and I’ve said nothing”

Quite an ingenious word game I must say (but only possible in those double word meanings in German).

I'd rather die a natual death with a clear MGTOW conscience somewhere off the grid than one within "modern" civilisation with a big stress mark on my forehead and a couple of dozen tubes plugged into my body. @Ned Trent – Sehr GUT! Danke sehr! Ok – that is all the German I know. Any more and I ask my teenage son (learning it to get back to his roots).

He asks me about Spanish translations and I ping him for German stuff.

Thanks for your assistance with the words Ned Trent. I don’t know if you like Rammstein but I think they are pretty cool. The lead singer has a killer voice. The crunching guitar riffs / sound are truly orgasmic (in a NON-GAY kind of way…of course…).

By the way Ned Trent – your avatar picture looks familiar. Where have I seen that before??

I believe that I heard the word Hast (or Hasst) to the ear (sounds the same pretty much) can either mean to have or to hate. As you said – pretty smart on the dude (or dudes) who wrote the lyrics.

Ahh, you’re welcome unencumbered. Now actually (for a bit of insider knowledge) Rammstein, as much as I also like a few of their songs and style, there was a predecessor kind of band before Rammstein rose to fame and only coincidence had it that ultimately it turned out to be Rammstein that in the end rose to the big fame rather than the other German band with virtually the same kind of concept and music style called “Ooomph”. So in a nutshell: The band Ooomph was there first only Rammstein were lucky enough to hit the big time. Here is a sample of them (an Ooomph classic —> Labyrinth):

The chorus of this one being (translated again): “Left, right, straight ahead, you never get out again, you’re in a labyrith and so on and so forth…

Personally, I prefer Oomph over Rammstein to be honest but anyways…

@ unencumbered: I (so far) have always chosen movie character figures that I like to associate and/or identify myself with. So which avatar of mine are you referring to..? The first one the second one (this one) or the third one..?

In case you mean this one (the movie Character Ned Trent) I’d suggest you look that up in my intro thread.

    Best

Love that song Du Hast! It’s so f~~~ing p~~~ed off and I don’t speak a word of the language but I can just tell by the vibe of the song. Check out the official video. It seems to be quite interesting if you get my drift. Pay close attention to the end…muahahahahahaha!

Great video Ned. Yeah – Oomph was never heard here in the states (at least that I know of). They kinda remind me a little of a German version of Iron Maden (one of my favorites).

Thanks for clearing up the source of your handle Ned Trent. I gotta say- kinda feel a bit sheepish. I should have known that one. In my defense – I cut cable after my divorce seven years ago. The only thing that gets onto my ‘boob-tube’ is either off the air programming or a DVD.

I really don’t watch much TV – so …. kinda ignorant there, yeah..

    Peace.

Yeah I know that video Soul Man. Again, it was the other band Oomph! which in fact largely influenced Rammstein, since Oomph! was founded as early as in 1989 in Braunschweig (I just looked it up on Wiki) whereas Rammstein was only founded five years later in Berlin.

@ Unencumbered: You know, buddy these days although I still do have TV and cable I do get less and less bothered to watch it (to say it with a rough quote from Mel Gibsen in a movie: “..all of this estrogen on the TV…”).

Having just looked up Oomph! on the German Wiki I also learned that apparently they also provided one of their Songs in the “Alien vs. Predator II” movie a song called “Wach auf!” (or as in “Wake up!” in English). Interesting, didn’t know that one…

Just discovered this one. How about that (theme song wise) then?

You asked the question and its just my humble opinion here I like this one because it is less angry and gets the MGTOW point across well. Having said that this video really rocks. I like all kinds of music.

I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me. Kind mockery at the well intentioned, but unfettered cruelty towards those would be prison guards of my creative possibilities. This so as to learn as much from misunderstanding as from understanding. Taking pleasure in worthy opponents and making language fluid and flowing like a river yet pointed and precise as a dagger. Contradicts the socialistic purpose of language and makes for a wonderful linguistic dance, A verbal martial art with constant parries that hone the weapon that is the two edged sword of my mouth.

Just discovered this one. How about that (theme song wise) then?

Steamy! I find it interesting that sex in German sound like sex in English (the word – not the act – ha ha ha). Anyhoo… When I count in German, SIX (the number) sounds like ‘sex’. It is probably one of those words that, like in English, the definition is in HOW it is used in the sentence.

An example would be HERE and HEAR. The way we determine which word is being used, is dependent on the context of the message.

@harpomason – very nice. I know it sounds strange from someone who was raised in AZ, but Country has really never been my thing, but you can never go wrong with Randy Travis. The fact that he is so calm and collected drives his point home even more.

I know you probably don’t dig some of the stuff I am into – that’s cool. Everybody is different. I grew up on Boston, Pink Floyd, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Scorpions, Iron Maden, Eagles – that kind of rock. When I was in college I took a liking to Classical music (Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Lizt, Chopin)
