Camping or some sort of survival contest, where I’m only allowed to have 10 items.

I’d probably take 2 large tarps (50×50), flint and steel, plenty of rope, a saw, a compound bow, a sleeping bag and pillow/blanket combo, a knife around 8 in, and an axe.

For some reason, seeing if I could survive in the woods is really appealing to me. Personally, as long as I secure food, I’ll be happy.

I think I’d be able to, there a LOT of neat tricks that it’s good to know, such as boiling salt water to make salt (welcome to flavor fresh caught game), making a stove burner out of a flat rock in a fire, tapping a tree for mineral water, etc.

What would you like to try?

Here’s a start: Once upon a time, I had a Boy Scout booklet that covered exactly that topic. It’s long gone (along with my childhood, clothes iron and tennis racquet), but there must be copies around.

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?

No offense, but that’s not survival. That’s just camping.

I once spent a long week out in the woods with just a knife, a gun (in case of bears – not for hunting), and the clothes on my back just to see if I could do it. It wasn’t exactly comfortable, half the time it was p~~~ing down rain, but it sure taught me just what it’s possible to do without. Now when I go camping if something doesn’t fit on the motorcycle, I don’t take it.

boiling salt water to make salt

I think you’ll find boiling water to make it drinkable is a higher priority.
