So, I just came back from watching The Hateful Eight a few hours ago. I got some Japanese food (a bento box and yaki manju) along with some chocolate cupcakes and decided to type this up right quick while it’s on my mind on the computer. I watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens last weekend and honestly, while it was a pretty good movie, the whole “girl power” aspect killed it for me. It seems like an agenda was being pushed.

The Hateful Eight will probably wash that feeling out your mouth.

Keep in mind that this film is from Quentin Tarantino, who made Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Django Unchained and other films. His films contained racist slurs and possibly the best violence I have seen in films (even though there’s not as much as his previous work), and I believe that these things are very appropriate in his films because they are used very cleverly (especially in a 19th-century historical setting) and, knowing Tarantino, you’re used to it. This film is also three hours long, also like some of his films.

But Tarantino knows how to make a damn good story. Even when his original script got leaked.

The Hateful Eight is basically a Western version of Clue. And it’s very unpredictable when it needs it to be. I couldn’t really pinpoint who did what until the story revealed it. I also like the acting, setting and scenery of the film. Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Walton Goggins and everyone else (even Jennifer Jason Leigh) did a fantastic job.

I have one issue with this film. You have times where it drags on considering the film’s length (disregarding the interesting conversations). But I was able to hold my pee until the end of the film.

But I really wanted to talk about the MGTOW aspect of this film. It’ll have some mild spoilers in terms of thematic elements, but I’ll try not to spoil the plot because I think you guys should check it out for yourselves.

    SPOILERS (kinda)

Basically, everyone who dies in this film is a result of the s~~~ that the woman, Daisy (played by Leigh), caused. It all revolves around her. And this woman, this goddamn woman, is the most racist, most disgusting, most irritating person in this entire film. You will hate this woman when you see her, and when she acts up, Warren and Ruth will put her back in her place their style.

The person(s) who help her end up being seen as mangina(s) and become the culprit(s) of the entire story. And the people who call them out on it are the supposed MGTOWs.

    END SPOILERS

When I see people criticizing this film for promoting violence against women (yea, they’re doing this), I just facepalm. Even the director and main cast (Leigh herself) said that this film required it to give an honest portrayal of the story. This “violence against women” idea is complete bulls~~~. Complete. Bulls~~~.

That’s my whole view on this film.

So, in short, this film is awesome! Another great piece from Tarantino. This film will most likely not make as much money as Star Wars, but I believe it deserves more money when compared to Star Wars.

I might also see The Revenant and/or Legend next weekend, and then stop my film spree for a while.

I liked Jackie Brown and Kill Bill, maybe I’d like this one too. Thanks for the review.

Some of Tarentino’s movies are really good but one thing he is best know for is that he is a master of dialogue. Movie sounds interesting. I wish I wasn’t so fed up with TV and Movies making a joke of men.

Tarantino makes the most interesting lines in movies. The fact that his movies are unpredictable makes them worth the watch alone. He is a special case were artistry really shines. The money follows, so he doesn’t need to cater to SJW’s.

Tarentino brought back the old school movie THEATRE experience.

You get a program before the movie starts with an overture to start. NO trailers of other crap to delude from the movie beforehand. Also an intermission for the drinkers. (Love that)

The movie had a unique setting, shot in a vintage format (last 70mm film was Ben Hur used the same lenses actually), and was semi gory yet funny.

I wasn’t going to go to the trouble and expense of seeing this movie in a theater (if at all), but with that review, I think I will brave the annoying crowds and make the trip. Thanks

Yes it’s a great film. You don’t want to run out and have a p~~~ because you’ll miss some dialog or something which leads to something else latter.
