Over the months I’ve been on MGTOW I’ve seen topics in categories I think would be better off in another. I want to suggest making the following categories:

Military – Armed Forces, Navy, Army, Air Force, Marine, Coast Guard

Entertainment – Movies, TV Shows, Anime, Sports TV, Music

Home Improvement – Power Tools, Repair, Man Caves, Pools

Cars, Trucks, Monster Trucks, Racing, or anything with a motor

Any of those categories sound good to add, where people can place their topics?

Not a bad idea, but wouldn’t extra forums make the site slower? And they’ve spent a while now working hard to speed it up. Coming up with more forums might return them to square one. I don’t know what kind of software Keymaster and company use to operate everything, but sites with surplus pages usually have more to run and manage.

Great you brought this up just now.

See the archives section above (top menu)? That’s changing. We’re adding all of these in a more traditional Magazine style. Including product reviews, MGTOW 101 stuff, ENTERTAINMENT / movies / new & cool trailers, cars/bikes/gear, opinion pieces, HOME improvements / cool houses / camping road trip stuff, TRAVEL…. and collecting forums input to put in there – while also accepting user submissions to all of it. So members can actually write reviews -like “best electric razor” etc. and post them.

Have been preparing it, but moving the site HAD to happen first for a number of reasons. NUMBER ONE… SPEED. And it was worth it, because today was the biggest traffic day in 8 months. First day was that much of an improvement.

Not at all. We could add 30 forums and it wouldn’t make a difference. But some have said we have TOO MANY forums. I don’t agree and think we have what we should have. I would agree there should be an entertainment forum as a separate. Then again, when a big movie comes out its popular in central for a while and then that’s it. I don’t think Entertainment warrants it’s own forum, but if you guys think it does, we’ll make one!

Cars and Bikes would be good but this will all be in the new front end “sections” (now called “archive”. When something is really relevant we’ll move it in there for non-member readers and visitors. .. a compile “what men are saying” in the forums.

    Old Sage says….
    Resident Evil says….
    The Road says

The forums are really “the lounge”.

We are also going back and forth on what we should call the new archives.

    SECTIONS? (Like many newspapers sites)
MAN CAVE? ( For fun and to punch that its for a male audience )
    THE VAULT?

Undecided on that. What do you think?

I actually would prefer to reduce the number of forums, if anything. Many of the forums have very little participation. The topics often interest me, but when there is 1 or 2 new topics a day, I often will skip checking it out. I also wonder if a visitor sees one of these low frequency forums first, they may think the site has low membership and move on.

Then there are the ‘stickied’ topics that haven’t had an update in over a month. I get why this would be of interest to visitors, but again, it can give the impression that the site is barely hanging on or something.

Really, the ‘last 100 posts’ feature seems to be the best way to find good topics, and that’s what I use most of the time.

    Ok. Then do it.

Do you guys think a conspiracy section would be cool, or do we want to avoid that kind of thing?

Hm, as a fairly new member I would say that the forum’s categories are all in all well chosen. Some categories are somewhat overlapping such as the Health & Fitness forums with Sports & Leisure, but that’s not really a problem, I think. The language nerd within me is sometimes whining, because there are no seperate forums for languages other than English, however, as in most countries, especially in European ones, English is taught from early on, such forums are unnecessary. Also, it’s unlikely that you would have come across MGTOW.com without speaking any English, which, then again, brings up the question if foreign language forums could attract more people who’ve disconnected from gynocentric society but don’t have discovered MGTOW yet as they don’t use English media so much. But that’s just a thought.

    The SOURCE.

    I like that!

Health & Fitness forums with Sports & Leisure,

We could marry those two and use the other for entertainment / media etc.

This is VERY important. But you all should know something about that….

We used to have a “languages” menu which translated the site and forums into 11 languages – from Hungarian to Japanese, Portuguese and others. One click and all text would convert to a foreign language.

A foreign speaking member could translate and read…
then he could even POST IN HIS NATIVE LANGUAGE(!)…..
and we could click “English” to understand him and translate what HE said.

This eliminated any need for any separate/dedicated foreign language forum.

BUT.. Google doesn’t like that — even though they provided the technology to do it. We also received a few foreign complaints that the translation wasn’t good enough. Nothing we could do about that, translation provided by Google.

It was strongly advised by a few people in the know that we remove the languages menu and translations. It “confuses” Google in searches, and we are MOSTLY for US, Canada, Australia and the UK. The more directly targeted your audience, the more relevant you become for that audience.

So for that reason, foreign translations are strongly NOT recommended.

If you keep doing what you've always done... you're gonna keep getting what you always got.
