Ive always had a fascination with machinery, metal working and general mechanics since I was a kid and it has played its part in my professional career. This is one of my favorite videos showing an old British steam locomotive being built. I doubt these men had to worry about a woman complaining to HR about sexual harassment.

The only women those men would have dealt with at work might have been the secretary and tea ladies. Perhaps a nurse.

Even if they wanted to sexually harass them they would not have had the time or opportunity as they would have been working hard and away from where the women were.

I love seeing all these old films as well. Industrial or otherwise, you can see things were just happier and calmer back then. ‘

Only black and white films praise, uplift, and adore men for our toiling accomplishments, now we’re reviled in all things… No wonder we went our own way!

Almost any trade related film shot before the 60’s is good as there was a thriving industrial base upon which the film was centered.

I enjoy watching those old films. I’m always amazed at what they could accomplish, especially in the automobile factories, with what would be considered primitive technology today. I find it deeply saddening that some of the skills those men possessed are almost lost.
