My heart goes out to you guys getting f~~~ed over. I got financially screwed too in my divorce but not as bad as others.

See what happened was my ex met this Canadian guy online (while we were still married of course) and once she decided she wanted to move up there (we are from USA) she became more agreeable during the divorce process. I have the kids 2/3 of the time now. They visit her during time off from school. So no child support and no alimony.

Still, I had the house paid off due to the hard work of me and my family (no help from her side) so I had to pay out half the value of the house.

So yeah that overgrown spoiled child-woman got a good sized payout.

But still with the help of my folks I recovered. So I am very grateful for them and will definitely take good care of them in their old age.

good to hear you don’t have to pay child support/alimony.

you’re lucky. but just remember……never get married again

I have the kids 2/3 of the time now. They visit her during time off from school. So no child support and no alimony.

I have heard some real horror stories of fathers spending big bucks going into a foreign country just to get their child or children back from their ex wives who stole the child or children from the father. Here is one example of one case:

    http://www.japantoday.com/category/national/view/american-father-wins-custody-of-child-after-divorce-from-japanese-woman

    “OSAKA —
A Nicaraguan-born man who lives in the U.S. state of Wisconsin has been awarded custody of his 9-year-old daughter, ending a four-year court battle with his former Japanese wife.

Moises Garcia married Emiko Inoue in 2002 and settled in Wisconsin where their daughter Karina was born the same year.

However, Emiko took the girl with her to Japan in 2008 against her husband’s wishes. Garcia fought passionately—and spent about $350,000—to get his daughter back. The liver transplant doctor learned to speak Japanese so he could communicate with a daughter whose English was slipping away.”

Think about it for a second. All she has to do is one day feel that she would want to keep the children after all and then you would have a big problem from there. Your children is actually at her mercy every time you would have your children go to Canada and visit her for the summer.

I hear ya. That was a concern of mine too. But this has gone on for 6 years now. My kids are mostly teenagers at this point. And she wouldn’t dare anything that would jeopardize her ability to stay with her new guy.

I hate to rain on your parade, but didn’t you read about that woman who sued her husband 30 years after their divorce? At the least it cost him money to defend himself in court.

As time went on my ex-wife wanted more and more money for child support. My lawyer told me to give her a little more, which would probably be less than she would get in a reassessment of child support in court.

Also now days many courts are awarding child support to age 24 instead of 18. You got off easy, for now.

Glad it wasn’t worse for you. I count myself very lucky indeed not to have got entangled in s~~~ in my blue pill days, some of the horror stories on here are just heartbreaking.

I fear seriously fear for you….. ex wives put each other up to things, there will be probably two or three of your ex’s friends in her ear telling her she could have got more. If your luck it will blow over especially if you have nothing left to get, but if you own a house or anything watch out.

Watch out for signs your ex is milking the kids for details… as that should ring alarm bells!

just hope and pray that she’ll remain happy until they grow up, so she has no reason to renegotiate.
And make sure you seem miserable and less better off than she is – this is very important

It’s possible she could try to pull some s~~~, but not probable. I do appreciate the concern though.
