    The original Star Trek series.

Check out Season 2, Episode 2, Who Mourns for Adonais.

In this episode, the crew explores a planet and finds the original Apollo of the Greek legends. Apollo demands that the crew come down to the planet and go back to the “old ways”. Giving voice to Apollo’s kind and generous ways is a female crew member being promised that she will be the mother of a new race of gods and she will be revered for centuries/millenia/a long, long time. It also demonstrates Scotty being the beta orbiter, hoping to show her the error of her ways, speaking to Cpt. Kirk on her behalf with concern for her safety. In the end, Apollo laments that mankind has outgrown the gods, all the while Scotty offers comfort to the woman who is mourning the loss of Apollo. Perhaps the original sci fi beta orbiter.

Over 45 years ago, pop culture demonstrated the natural inclinations of women and how, united together, men must defeat it’s result.

Things work out in the end. The good guys win this one, but it is just fiction.

I’m having trouble sleeping right now and am on my second glass of scotch so I hope I’m getting through.

    Food for thought.

Edit. In the end, the episode does not demonstrate the female crew member being disciplined for disloyalty or having a hand in putting the crew and vessel in jeopardy.

    Astute assessment.

Yeah , definitely…..good catch. I grew up watching Star Trek OS episodes and have them all on DVD. Star trek was well known to address social issues of the time as you will see racism(two peoples eliminate one and other because they are different , one black on the right side the other black on the left) , and all sorts of other issues being depicted. It’s amazing how much of this stuff you’re able to recognize once the blue-pill blinders come off.

I just watched it for the entertainment. Didn’t apply any societal issues to it.

Women's brains and vagina have one thing in common. There is nothing in there until a man puts something in there.

Don’t know why but this is one of my favorite episodes from Star Trek, and yes I noticed that when Apollo offered to make her into soemone to be revered and worshipped her eyes lit up like a christmas tree. You nailed it bro: Hypergamy!
