Hey guys, any ideas to make the work day go faster? There isn’t youtube or any entertainment websites at work. Taking a nap is one idea but I can’t nap all day.

Back in my day, they wouldn’t let me read books at my desk. I read tech manuals anyway. Surfing the net was out, they monitored our activity through their firewall.
Finally, I caved and bombarded my boss for more assignments, telling him I was underutilized. It made him think I was a go-getter and no harm was done. How your boss would react only you can predict.

Never take a dump at home. Do it at work. While you’re sitting on the crapper, you get to tell yourself that you’re being “paid to take a sssshhhhit”. Saves you on toilet paper too.

    Butt seriously…….

I use boring work days as an opportunity to educate myself on something. Maybe I will work on a side project or try something I haven’t done before. Wasting it on video games or youtube just isn’t my style. I can honestly say I am NEVER “bored”.

    27 hours a day just isn’t enough.

I can’t make the image come up, and I can’t edit my post. Here’s a link to today’s Dilbert, which hits the mark!

Edit: I too, did the taking a dump thing. Also, I’d pay bills and do other busywork — if the bosses or office snitches weren’t watching.

    KM’s new avatar is cool!

Get a song caught in your head, or just sort of force yourself to “zone out” as I do.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to waste time like that. Why not find a job where you can learn something, and then go ahead and starts something you love doing and get paid for it. So that you can get the money you need to go even faster on your own way? I know it’s possible to go your own way without much money and we men don’t need that much money if we stop spending them on women and yes, it’s hard, but the time is going to pass anyway, so why not use it to make yourself even more awesome, so that in the future you will have the freedom and money to say f~~~ you to the society out loud with a big smile? Just a suggestion bro,

good advice, but what you say is easier said than done.

Do you have a laptop which you can have open while you’re bored at work? If you really have time to kill or or it’s one of those jobs ( like nighttime security at a museum) …. you can give yourself all kinds of an education from programming to the stock market. Just to name one way….

I know bro, I know it, because I am doing it myself, it’s hard, but at the same time, I feel more fulfilled doing what I like.

Is this your life? Is this the job for you? …. until retirement?

If it is … take the naps and s~~~s.

If not …. plan your escape.

I have this terrible issue inside me. When I get to the point that I can’t see the point of my job …. I walk. Right there and then … I just get up .. put my coat on and go home.

It has cost me dear in the past … but I eventually found a job that I loved.

Very much the hard way …. but that’s my demon.

I know the feeling, except I get bored from too many assignments at once, if that makes any sense. It’s a kind of thing that I sometimes prefer to be at home working, where I don’t have to dress up and I can play my music/educational videos (those are the primary reasons I use YouTube) WHILE I’m working on assignments.

If only work-at-home stuff paid better and was more available. I find that when I’m in a comfortable environment BY MYSELF, I work a lot better than working around a bunch of people (this is why I do online classes in college).

I’m glad my current job doesn’t mind me playing music or YouTube videos, but that doesn’t kill the boredom or the stress. I’d much rather take these assignments at home. I’m just NOT a people-person as much as I think I am. I’m a personable guy and can help people out, but “customer (or in my job’s case, ‘student’) service” is just overwhelming.

I prefer to be home alone MOST of the time. Anything else is mentally exhausting.

I learn new language at work, lol, if it’s possible for you to have an earpod in one ear, or better yet both, while you work, throw some language courses on your phone, and you are set to go!

Or maybe even just have audio books on there too, if you aren’t seeking a new language.

Whatever way you can sneak in your actual goals, in your current job’s time, is worth it.

This is what I do when I’m bored at my desk:

    1) Get up to p~~~ and s~~~ as much as possible. It’s good to get up every 20mins anyway if you are sitting all day.

    2) I downloaded a NES and SNES emulator on my cell so I can relive my teenage video game years playing them on my phone for hours.

    3) If no one is around, take a power nap.

    4) Bring headphones and a loaded playlist

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me
