I woke up at 10:30 this morning to a text message from a number I didn’t have stored in my phone… it took me a minute to figure out who it was from. Turns out it was a girl I had seen a few weeks back for a bit of medical care (sometimes you’ve just got to get the poison out) and she was asking me for a loan.

“I feel embarrassed to ask this but can you loan me 300 till tomorrow im short on my rent I just moved there kicking me out at noon”

It’s now 11:52 and I have no intention of answering this text, at least not for another 9 days… that’s how long it’s been since I last texted her with no response.

You see, after our appointment was complete, we talked for a bit and she mentioned she was wanting some firearm training so I offered to trade a few hours of her services for my own… an offer she accepted readily. I wouldn’t train a woman in my house how to shoot (how many times has that come back to haunt a man) but hey, who knows… maybe she’ll kack a would-be pimp or a couple of serial rapists or something.

Anyway, we exchanged a few texts about it later and my last message to her nine days ago was to suggest a time and location to meet to go put a few rounds down range. Silence… until this morning.

Now my watch-word for 2016 is “reciprocity” and that means that, while I’m still prepared to make offers of value exchange, at the end of the day I’m only going to give what I get. If I’m not important enough for her to text back within nine days, then certainly I’m not close enough to be loaning her money in the next 8 minutes.

Not that I need an excuse not to. Loaning $300 to a prostitute is like pouring a thousand gallons of water into a boat with a hole in it… but hey, it’s only the 4th and already my values are being tested and I’ve got to stay true to them regardless of the circumstances. This one was easy… we’ll see how the rest of the year goes.

Giving a woman a loan is the worst idea ever. If she was a smart woman she wouldn’t need the loan. If she was just a little bit smarter she could have offered more service with a few friends for that amount.

If she had texted me back eight days ago, gone shooting with me then brought a friend over to help her pay me back for my time and effort and THEN asked me for a loan two or three days before her rent was due, I still wouldn’t have given her the money, but I would have recommended her to a friend or two and I wouldn’t be talking about her like this now.

Respect has to be earned. Typically I respect an honest whore, but not one who comes around looking for handouts.

I’m embarrassed to admit that a few years ago I fell for this ploy. I employed the services of a call girl and a week or so goes by after our meet and she’s texting me with this sob story about how she needed rent money by 3PM that day or she was going to be evicted. When she texted me I was in no mood or position for any services so I offered to pay ahead and fronted her $60. The deal was that the next time we were going to get together she would give me credit. The next few times I tried to call her she didn’t answer. When I finally got ahold of her she said that she couldn’t give me credit this time because……same excuse……she’s about to be evicted and REALLY needs the money.
At that point I had already written off the loss. For the next 2 weeks she would text me about seeing me and me paying. I asked her why I would pay full price when she owes me? Her reply was that she would owe me TWICE. I told her that since she can’t even make good on owing me once, why should I trust that she’ll make good on owing twice? She started with the line of being on the verge of being homeless and how I was being mean to her. Guilt and shaming to the max.
Lesson learned. The “lay away plan” is a bad idea. Woman will f~~~ you over and then play the victim every time.

Doc, let’s put it this way, if if you needed 300 dollars, would you expect her to give it to you? If not, then why should you be the only reliable one? Also, I once lived in a room in an area where there was a food bank nearby. Let me tell you something what I learned from that time. If she so happens to use drugs, chances are that you will probably never see that 300 dollars again if you do give it to her since she is just trying to supplement her drug addiction.
