Holiday Favorites

It’s time to dig out my holiday favorites — if only to avoid another round of cheerful Xmas music! I have then all on DVD.

* Rome, the HBO series. A true gem of manly virtues w/ large doses of blood and guts thrown in just to keep me watching.
* The Godfather, all three original movies. Ditto the manly virtues w/ blood & guts.
* Star Wars, the CD set of “The Original Radio Drama.”
* Galaxy Quest. This one I must see every year. I laugh out loud every time I watch this one.

I’m starting with Star Wars because it’s in the air. The others will follow in no particular order.

The Warriors. .cheesy but retro cool. .every christmas morning. .taxi driver. ..if I watch the godfather suddenly I’m in the kitchen making tomato sauce. .lot of work. .! (But worth it 4 or 5 hours later when it’s done. .mmmm. .)..

Do you have a good recipe/method? I have finally perfected my pizza dough recipe and am working on sauces. Store bough sauces taste……store bought.

I as because it took me 2 years of trolling the internet until I finally found a pizza dough recipe that turned out well. This was the one out of the literally dozens and dozens that used the same basic recipe and methods.

A good tomato sauce recipe would be an excellent beginning.

Hahaha! Goodfellas always makes me want to make a sauce. “He had a wonderful system for doing the garlic. He used a razor, and he would slice it so thin it would liquify in the pan with just a little oil”
For me, when the weather gets real cold and snowy I like to keep a pot of soup around, made from whatever is on hand. I do my own cooking, and soups are hard to screw up once you get a few basic ideas down. And freshly-baked bread. I could eat soup and bread all day.
