The readings were taken by a robot, within the shielding of the second reactor, right next to a 3 ft opening, with an open spill of fuel that hadn’t been cleaned up.

If it was anything but those conditions, after six years, Japan would be covering up a body count in the millions and an irradiated landscape visible from space.

In fairness, I know the ministry was discussing firing the first reactor back up and I’ve maintained that’s a f~~~ing stupid idea from the start of this, but they already killed hundreds of people with the evacuation orders they didn’t need and shouldn’t have issued during the meltdown, so here’s hoping they don’t repeat their stupidity.

Sorry WDR, there is no safe level of Plutonium for ingestion. This crap has been pouring radionuclides into the Pacific for 6 years nearly.

I will not eat Pacific seafood, period. Bio-concentration will make the levels higher over time just like the Mercury warnings about Tuna except now it’s Strontium-90 and a host of others. Ingestion of radionuclides is the most dangerous thing one can do.

You are right about the proximity measurement. I’m more concerned about the Pacific Ocean.

I don’t believe everything I read (a natural consequence of living for a while) but some of the things I read seem outrageous but once you dig into the facts go take a look on the tep Co website do a little bit of research you do find that’s some of these claims aren’t that outrageous. I have a friend that lives near Imperial Beach San Diego area and I can remember going there when I was a kid you couldn’t help but find sand dollar starfish all kinds of interesting wildlife at low tide. Now my friend goes out looking at the tide pools at a very unusual low tide that occurred back in December he sees absolutely nothing alive and the Rocks seem to be sort of bleached. I grew up around the beach in southern California sure there’s always pollution they just dump the sewage right off the coast along with everything else that accumulates in the storm drains used motor oil garbage etcetera. All of this ends up in the ocean but it has been for many years. The net effect of this pollution whatever it is weather it is from Fukushima or just from all the storm runoff is the same death. I don’t have exact figures because I don’t think they’re releasing accurate information what they are releasing is convenient information just like they did so many times before. One thing I’m worried about that perhaps we should all be worried about apparently in reactor 2 the tons of damaged fuel rods melted down and the radioactive lava has now breached the containment vessel. while it is true that the reading “inside” the containment vessel is 530s (10s is fatal). The interesting part of the story whether it is from the guy you read or any other news source. The fact of the matter is it has been over 5 years and there is no possibility of recovering the fuel which has sense left the facility most likely melted through the floor like at Chernobyl. Sure don’t worry about it there a lot of other important things to worry about to. Never discount something till you check it out

Even if what you are saying is true. The fact of the matter is that at that reactor plant there is an ongoing nuclear meltdown happening right beside the ocean. Along with a breached reactor cores, there are underground radioactive pools of water leaking into the ocean.

And after forty years of environmental bulls~~~ by the Japanese government about “global warming” and “going green”, when faced with an actual environmental disaster on their homeland, the Japanese government response is to ignore the problem and make it a crime to even talk about the problem.

They have gone far beyond going “full retard” and they charting new levels of stupidity.

Precisely, and that’s a huge problem.

We had fallout on the East Coast of the US after a front drew the plume down from the stratosphere. It rained for days, and I stayed inside. I know three people who immediately got cancer after that fallout event. Two are dead. One was 37 years old.

@td: I remember the Sea Anemones on the rocks in San Diego when I was a kid. It was quite a sight for an East Coast boy. I kept one as a pet and forgot to fly it back East with me. I’d change its water every day.

What is the point of MSM if they can’t investigate and report on this sort of stuff? …like Chernobyl you never hear about it but it must still be contaminating ground water, the eco-system, food chain etc.
It’s almost like living in a parallel universe where the important things are ignored and the ‘bread and circuses’ matter.

I’ve been confused for a long time why there hasn’t been any significant effort at containment at FD, just half assed attempts towards decommissioning with robots.

The Ukrainians managed to get a concrete cover over Chernobyl, so why can’t the Japanese even put a tailings dam around FD to isolate it from the Pacific? It doesn’t have to be pretty. It doesn’t have to be high tech. It doesn’t have to be electronic. It just has to be big. Instead they’re just f~~~ing around with robots. What is it with Japan and their f~~~ing robots?

The further you go down that particular rabbit hole the more information you find has been misapplied. New robots even the most shielded ones can’t stay down for more than 2 hours without falling apart in reactor number 2. The problem is you cannot contain radioactive lava it has breached the containment vessel completely and is now on its way to the Center of the Earth but you’ll never hear that. Makes me think there’s really no point in quitting drinking

Down isn’t nearly as big a problem as east and up. The core of the earth is already radioactive as f~~~ (not that the FD core will get that far). No, the problem is keeping it from going east into the Pacific, and up into the atmosphere, and those are much easier to solve.

Fukushima is the nightmare I try not to think about. Nothing says forever like radiation. Were the plumes you spoke of, in your previous post, from Fukushima or was it back in Chernobyl days? How long after the accident did it happen?

I too have already stopped eating fish from the Pacific, no matter what part of it it’s from, even though lots of “pseudo scientific” websites will say all is well in that area.

They do say to avoid migratory fish (tuna, salmon, etc) and bottom dwellers (crab etc) as the radioactive molecules have supposedly descended to the ocean floor after 5 years.

But as you say, with the food chain, who the f~~~ knows what you’re eating. And I highly doubt they’re able to effectively test for it in reality.

Lets see Government’s lie but LETS look at objective fact—what are the real estate values around the plant? High? Low? At the time of the reactor failure in Japan I was posting on a site just like this and one of the posters was living in Japan. I warned him the same way I’m warning you guys. Thyroid cancer was the major effect of Chernobyl and that is the best model for the one in Japan. I told him to get out asap. Why stay?

I treated at least 10 thyroid cancer patients from Chernobyl who emigrated to LA where I was a doc there.

This was further exacerbated by a general iodine deficiency in the local diet causing more of the radioactive iodine to be accumulated in the thyroid. Since radioactive iodine is short lived, if people had stopped giving locally supplied contaminated milk to children for a few months following the accident, it is likely that most of the increase in radiation-induced thyroid cancer would not have resulted.
