I just found this site through a Youtube video my bf was listening to and it sounded really interesting. I’ve never really thought of myself as “going my own way” but after hearing about it and checking out the site I’m definitely open to finding out more. I don’t know, sometimes it seems like we have to be very careful how we talk about different things and that gets really, really frustrating. This just seems like a safe place to talk about gender issues in a way that I really can’t elsewhere. So that’s why I decided to join-to have a safe place to talk about things with guys who really know what they’re talking about here.

I guess that means I should actually introduce myself a little. I’m from Indiana originally but I moved down to Memphis a few years ago to get my masters in anthropology. Yeah, I know, it’s kind of a girly major but it turns out anth has a lot of great info about gender identity and biological differences and all that. I mean, you can say all you want that “women are equal to men” but if you just look at a human skeleton there are some pretty damn big differences. Plus, I DO really like giving time to local nonprofits and I’m pretty political so the humanities really help with that. I think that it’s just infuriating to think that only women can make a difference in our world, like guys shouldn’t stand up for their rights and what they believe in, too. That’s just such bulls~~~. I don’t want to spend too much time talking about myself here-I’m really looking to learn from you guys and find a good, strong community of active thinkers. Looking forward to getting to know you guys!

I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me. Kind mockery at the well intentioned, but unfettered cruelty towards those would be prison guards of my creative possibilities. This so as to learn as much from misunderstanding as from understanding. Taking pleasure in worthy opponents and making language fluid and flowing like a river yet pointed and precise as a dagger. Contradicts the socialistic purpose of language and makes for a wonderful linguistic dance, A verbal martial art with constant parries that hone the weapon that is the two edged sword of my mouth.
