Anonymous1Hi Guys,
When it comes to how computers work, I may be the world’s dumbest guy. I desperately need help.
I belong to several other forums and I occasionally need to to cite an article. Problem is no one has been able to explain how I do this.Say, for example I have found a news story that I wish to share. But, my every attempt fails.
Is there a SIMPLE way to copy an article and then post it later ?
If you elect to help me, please be aware that what you say may be super simple to you, but it is Greek to me.
I see at the top of the page (the article) a white bar with a lot of words/numbers/symbols etc. But what do I then do ?
Thank you

Anonymous43high light the address
right click
then go to the post area
this will post the address of the article only
highlight the entire article
right clickcome back to the post area
right click in the post area
pastenow you have the entire article as a post

Astronaut Alan Bean has died at age 86 on Saturday. Bean was the fourth man to walk on the moon and was a member of the Apollo 12 mission.
here I copied and pasted the story
Seems like you have a lot of catching up to do.
Plenty of vids on YouTube to help you.
Watch them.
And take your time, the world’s not ending… YET.
Ha ha!Don't let them Blame, Shame or Tame you!
Give 'em NOTHING, not even an answer!

Anonymous1Hi 57,
Ok, I see the address of the article.
I highlighted it and I then right clicked.
I now see a box that says, cut, copy, paste, paste and go, undo, select all.but I don’t see any “POST AREA”

Anonymous43um you typed something in the post area to say:
Hi 57,
Ok, I see the address of the article.
I highlighted it and I then right clicked.
I now see a box that says, cut, copy, paste, paste and go, undo, select all.but I don’t see any “POST AREA”

Anonymous43do you want to copy something to post here in this forum?
or do you want to save this for something else?
Post area = place where you enter stuff to say on the forum
post area, reply here, chat window, dialog box, message box whatever it’s called

Anonymous1For something else.
I know how to save photos and other images but that’s all I know how to save and file.

Anonymous43ok. ill talk you through this

Anonymous43Ram, you can save the address in a place called favorites.
on the right side of the screen there is a star. This is favorites. depending on your version of windows, there should be an add to favorites button. You can add to favorites in a list or you can make it a button on the screen

Anonymous43if you want it on the screen, select favorites bar
if you want it in a list, then put it in the list
Anonymous43If you want to save the whole article, this is something different
You need to open up Word or note pad.
This can be found a couple different ways.
Easiest is to left click on the same picture you use to turn off the computer, the start button. left click the start and there is a search box, type in word and then click the magnifying glass if you do not have word, type in notepadIn word, open a blank document
when that opens, click on the minimize the dash button in the upper right cornerGo back to internet, go back to your article and high light the article and right click on it, select copy.
minimize the internet and click on the Word picture, it should have a big happy W on it
right click on your page there and then right click, select paste. You can also cut and paste the internet address of the article into the page with your article.
Now, upper left there is a button called file. click on file and go to save as. Give the file a name and save it in documents.
Notepad works the same way.

Anonymous43you can also cut and paste stuff into an email.
If you save the article as a word or notepad file you can attach it to an email with the paperclip

Anonymous1WHOA you just lost me. Previously, you spoke of a place to “POST” . Where is post ?
PS I have windows 10

Anonymous43I thought you wanted to share some article here in MGTOW.com.
putting comments on a forum is called posting, to post
like posting a message on a laundromat bulletin board with a thumb tack or putting a garage sale sign on on a signpost. You have been posting here today, talking to me.
You typed in a reply to box when you want to say something, then you pushed a blue button that says Post my Reply.
A topic is a conversation starter. This topic is “need help copying”
A thread is the series of comments related to a topic, we are talking about how to copy and save articles.
A post is a comment made by someone with something to say. We have been chatting back and forth together, posting.
A person making a post is a poster. You are a poster, I am a poster.
The person who starts a topic is called an original poster or an OP. You are the OP.

Anonymous1Ah, ok. A problem with semantics.
All I want to do is file an article and save it for future reference.
When needed, I wish to “cite” my post. ie offer proof of what I say.Sounds simple but hard to do.

Anonymous43did ya get it?

Anonymous1Did I get which ? Yes, I understand what you mean by “post”. I still do not get how to file an article for future use on a different web site. (Not MGTOW)

Anonymous43you save the text of the article in the word or the notepad, then when you want to refer back to the article, then you cut and paste from word or notepad. you can also cut and paste the address from the favorites.
