Hello to you all, I’m Victor.

I have been reading the threads on here for a little while now, and the perspective you have to offer is fascinating.

I now realise I have been brought up with some seriously misguided delusions about the opposite sex.  There are valid or necessary delusions – like gravity, for instance, which no-one really understands properly – then there are misguided delusions.  This truth that I already ‘knew’ in some ways has been driven home to me by this site.

I had always believed that men should have a deferential and protective attitude to women…etc.  For instance, to give you a relatively trivial example, I was brought-up to understand that I should always stand-up and offer my seat to a woman on the bus or train and to be polite around women.  That sounds outdated now and I’m not that old (only in my 30s), but even today I still do those things out of pure habit, without thinking about it, and I always feel embarrassed if I forget, as if I have done something shameful or terrible.

At the same time, I have always had an inclining in the back of my mind that this was all nonsense.  So I’ve always had this dual mentality about it – a kind of doublethink.  It’s refreshing to find the contrary, pro-male view articulated without reservation.

The best thinkers tell you what you already know but couldn’t (or wouldn’t) articulate – and that’s your achievement here.

That’s not to say I agree with you completely about women.  I don’t consider myself a MGTOW, but I’m not a blue pill man either.  I’m somewhere else, but I can’t quite define myself.

I am heterosexual and sexually normal, but I have never had a sexual encounter.  I don’t exactly know why that is, except there are strong pointers such as when I was young I was very shy and introverted.  I also suffered from mental health issues.  I developed crushes on individual girls that lasted for years on end but couldn’t pluck up the courage to speak to them.  So now I’m in my late 30s without any family and feeling very lonely.

As for the wider issues, I’m not sure what I think about all this.  It seems to me that feminism can’t be criticised in such a sweeping way.  It is a good thing in some ways, but not others.  It must have been frustrating for many women in the past who wanted to fulfil roles in society alongside men and so you can see why women’s social movements gained traction, especially among ‘middle class’ women.  At the same time, what is forgotten is that society was organised patriarchally for reasons that didn’t necessarily have anything to do with bare discrimination.  It’s not that men wanted to do women down, it’s more than the different roles of the two sexes were meant to reflect different biological imperatives.  I can also see why many people – both men and women – are nervous about feminism.  It’s a complex subject, with no easy answers.

Anyway, I thought I would introduce myself and express my appreciation for your site.  I might pop in now and again and add my comments on threads that interest me.  I have no axe to grind here either way.  I’ll give you my honest thoughts.

    Thanks,

    Victor.

… I now realise I have been brought up with some seriously misguided delusions about the opposite sex. …

Weren’t we all? Anyhow, welcome aboard. The only way to live is to be free of delusions; I believe that.

Society asks MGTOWs: Why are you not making more tax-slaves?
