Having a friend stay with you and your mate

I made a thread before about a friend turning snob and I remembered that once when I moved away while I was engaged I had him come stay with us for a month or so. I had met new friends who were into music like we were and I guess I missed hanging out with him and wanted to introduce my friends together so I had him come stay with us. My ex didn’t like that so much. She complained about him eating food while we were gone. I told him to make himself at home. I didn’t give a f~~~. Any of you ever had a friend stay the night or even longer while you were living with a girlfriend/wife? How did it turn out for you?
