It’s sodding terrible weather this weekend and as usual on such weekends I like to have a go at cooking something I’ve never done before. I’m attempting chicken yakitori this weekend.

I have always cooked, as my ex-wife and all girlfriends before that were utterly useless cooks. Whether they were genuinely useless or just lazy and wanted to let me cook I’m not sure.

Any attempts at cooking by my ex-wife generally resulted in every utensil in the kitchen being used, mostly unnecessarily, and randomly spread around the kitchen, to produce an unpalatable stodge, cremated lumps of meat or bullets of unidentifiable vegetables.

I was taught to cook by both of my parents and I’m teaching my daughter to cook properly.

Was it just coincidence that all the women I met couldn’t/wouldn’t cook or do women just not bother to learn anymore, perhaps because it’s perceived as a “woman’s job” and the feminists talk them out of it?

[Similar for ironing skills. All the women I’ve met have been useless]

No, but she was good at eating restaurant meals at my expense.

And the chef was almost certainly a bloke, as working in a professional kitchen is hard work.

Both my wives were excellent cooks. Probably the reason why I never even bothered trying to learn how to cook myself. The one I have now is really quite amazing in the kitchen and she actually enjoys cooking and experimenting. These days it’s a deal breaker for me if they can’t cook tasty stuff of all varieties. Same as a woman who doesn’t know how to drive a car, totally useless in my opinion even if she is a good f~~~.

Perhaps that’s the key point – I never made it a priority required attribute. Also, you have great produce in Australia which should be a criminal offence to cook badly.

First ex cooked a little, could make an ok chicken and dumplings. The 2nt, not at all it was out of the freezer into the microwave then on the table. So cooking was a need to if I wanted something that tasted other then fresh out of the freezer.

Everyone can agree that working conditions in a kitchen are equal for all.

The worlds top chefs are overwhelmingly men.
I find this satisfying and hilarious.

You can’t say to a woman “make me a sandwich” not because of politics, it’s because they’re not capable anymore.

But they can Snapchat and pick good filters for Chad’s.

If women ran the world = It would become the shithole you are seeing.

99% of my ex-gfs/cohabitants could cook, more or less. But only the very first, 16 yo girl, could cook really tasty food and bake me cakes. You know, your question made me taking thought. I dated or cohabited with ol’moust 30 gals, but I can remember nothing significant of they cooked for me. Absolutely NOTHING. o_O

Yes my ex was an amazing cook. Unfortunately she was also amazingly good at being a narcissistic bitch.

Yep. My last real GF was a demon in the bedroom and kitchen. F~~~ I miss her, haha.

I won’t bother with a woman now if she’s not at least willing to try making some food. Had a few short-term student girlfriends who ate only cold food and takeout/junk, needless to say I was not impressed.

Yeah, my ex-girlfriend was amazing in the bedroom and the kitchen. Unfortunately, she didn’t restrict her bedroom activities to just me I found out later. 🙁

Yes, my ex wife was great at cooking.
    But it was a nightmare:
    * She really cooked well just only for holidays – during about 350 days out of 365 in a year she “cooked” mainly “ready to eat” meals.
    * During holidays she cooked truly royal lunchs and dinners but it was extremely expensive (expenses up to 600-700 $ per meal for 6-8 persons), she did take 1.5-2 FULL days to prepare it, she was nervous and bitching all the time, she sent me to buy ingredients up to 5 times per day.
    * The waste of food, expensive food, during such events was incredible: about a third ended in the garbage due she exaggerated with quantity. Have you ever saw throwing in the garbage more than 100 first-class giant prawns cooked with expensive cognac? It’s frustrating to see, after a while…

    Most Women are NOT Complete.

I’m NOT Talking “PERFECT”, I mean they may do some things VERY WELL, but ABSOLUTELY Fail in Other Areas.

For example, She may be a Great Cook, but then may fail in one or many other areas: Cold, Bitchy, Whiny, Hypochondriac, Sexless, Obese, Dirty, Can’t Clean, NOT Monogamous, Poor Mother, Lazy, Can’t hold down a JOB, Spendthrift etc. etc.etc.

    There are NO Unicorns.

I think some Blue Pillers just focus on the couple/few things that she CAN DO, and just learn to accept the rest because at least in their eyes she can do something.

For example, a man that marries a women that cooks him a few meals, keeps the house clean-ish, and does his laundry while working full time may be highly prized even though she may spend more then she makes, be COLD in bed, and has gained 50 lbs since they were married.

    There are NO Unicorns.

    The point is be Self-Sufficient.

If you can’t cook invest in a crock-pot, and begin to learn to cook for yourself. It’s EASY

Clean your own house, Do your own laundry, etc. etc. etc. It’s ALL EASY STUFF AND EASY FOR ANY MAN TO MASTER.

You don’t Need a Women for ANY OF THIS.

So she basically never cooked a good meal for just you, to show you her “love”.
She only brought her skills out when she could show off to other people (at your expense).
I think that is possibly worse than not being able to cook at all.

I like tasty healthy food. I can’t cook anything that does not involve a microwave and I can’t buy takeout every night either. And at my age I have no interest in learning how to cook from scratch as I have other things to do that interest me more.

I am not gay so I need a WOMAN to cook for me.

I am self sufficient. I don’t cook, clean my house, do my dishes, mop, dust, vacuum, or do my own laundry. I don’t pay my bills. Most are autopay and the few left I don’t do.

I order in, hire a housekeeper and hire a biller.

I have far more interesting things to do. I’m a composer, medical scientist and, primarily, retired.

It costs me 800 a month to have all this taken care of for me. That is 1% of my income and frees me up 95% of the time.

Luckily I can afford it. Working hard in school paid off for me. That would not be true today.
