I think the thing that annoys me is that I have a hard time seeing moms that actually raised their kids alone because their husbands died or were unfit parents to raise their children trying to take credit for both roles. This seems more like a move that women who were promiscuous and got stuck with a child because they couldn’t stop themselves from f~~~ing thugs and fancy themselves as “strong independent women” would do.

Not offended, it’s just dumb.  The definition of mother/father has never been defined by what you do for your kids.  It’s gender based.    This is a commercial, so not really a stance of feminism, but it would be a stupid one if they took it.  Obviously, with all the role swapping now a days,  both parents could claim to be both mom and dad  since they share all roles.  Just dumb.

@HR, I’m not where you’re at, but similar.   My ex had a 2 year old when we married, and I treated him like he was my son.  I improved her relationship with the biological Dad because I showed him a ton of respect.  I remember during when argument, out of the blue, where she accused me of “trying to save her and her son”.  Not once did I ever ask for any recognition or tell her she couldn’t make it on her own, she was being defensive about whatever perception she assumed I had.  I learned.  It was almost weird how friends, coworkers, family, etc, would tell me it was great that I was being a Dad to a boy that wasn’t mine, yet my wife would do know such thing.

I don’t have that same relationship with him anymore.  I can’t.  He still has his biological Dad and his new step Dad, so I play the role where I fit.  I usually see him once a week, and then he comes with us on family vacations and sometimes on holidays.

I do not ask for any special recognition at all.  I almost don’t want any.  If Father’s Day disappeared, that would be fine with me.  I don’t care.  I want to spend time with my kids on that day, just because I can. Seeing the grow up to be happy good people is all I really care about.  That said, I do want my kids to understand what role I played in their lives because I want them to understand how they got to where they are, and what they would need to do for their kids.  I know they don’t understand how the money I provided allowed them to even live with their mom in a decent neighborhood, but they will.

SMHD… You’ve got to be kidding me! Honestly I can vouch for the kids being raised by a single mom as my dad died when I was 1 and my mom was and still is a widow 30 years later. Did I ever see my mom as my dad? HELL NO! My dad was an honorable man and honestly I think she would slap me silly if I was to ever consider her my father too. Those grown ass kids that I’m certainly hoping are just actors need an ass whooping for real as that is flat out sacrilege. Angel Soft needs to GTFOH with their white knighting bulls~~~. I love how they conveniently leave out that there are single fathers out there. They could’ve put this garbage on you know… Mothers Day and put one on single fathers on Fathers Day. That is just infuriating.

Oh good god. I tried to read through most of that and got to the list of things to do to bring feminism into you and your child’s life more, and then after starting to get the dry heaves I had to stop.

In fairness I am slightly hung over from partying with my bros last night, but I’m pretty sure I’d get sick anyway as when I stopped reading the dry heaves went away.

That’s very true.
