Calling it “a big step in the right direction,” U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley on Sunday night announced a historic reduction in the U.N. biennial operating budget.

Haley said the plan calls for a $285 million cut for the 2018-19 fiscal year.

“The inefficiency and overspending of the United Nations are well known,” Haley said. “We will no longer let the generosity of the American people be taken advantage of or remain unchecked.”

——-aaaaa good to see,……could be more but at least it is a start. To bad it is only millions and not billions.

Maybe they’ll auction off some of their really cool go-anywhere vehicles! I want the one with six wheels and a turbo diesel engine!

Lets vulture the UN to bits and pieces!

Cut it all, immediately end all alimony payments, give the extra money to divorced fathers, and watch the economy grow.

    Nice joke.

    Meanwhile….

Guterres has proposed capping the U.N. biennial budget at $5.4 billion, shaving off $200 million from the 2016-17 budget.

The U.S. pays about 22 percent of the U.N.’s budget, or roughly $3.3 billion, and fully 28 percent of its peacekeeping effort.

So we still pay billions, shave off a few million, and call it a political victory for the American people?

At the same time 50 Billion is given yearly in military assistance to foreign countries, 150 Billion is spent on maintaining military bases, and we continue bombing and waging wars on third world countries that costed us trillions, escalating the refugee epidemic in Europe and here in North America and Haley is talking about the UN taking advantage of us?

Except the UN is still getting billions. This reduction is peanuts and nothing more than a PR stunt.

Yes and no. Keep in mind foreign aid bills come from the House of Congress. The House of Congress controls the purse strings of the nation. While the White House can withhold some funds, the White House needs Congress cut the budgets for those funds to fully withheld in most situation.

I won’t expect US to cut billons payment to UN overnight, but it is a good start. At least we show them we mean what we said. I am hoping the cutting will continue and become bigger and bigger. F~~~ you UN.

Those are exactly my feelings on the matter.

With the tax cut passed and the Obamacare mandate abolished, in January President Trump will likely start to heavily push for infrastructure projects and budgetary battles.

I can guess that President Trump plans to pay for some of the infrastructure projects by eliminating a lot of foreign aid packages.

285 Million? We give Israel more than 3,000 Million every year directly and have spent Trillions since 2001 fighting wars they want that have absolutely nothing to do with us.

I say cut off the big leech before the tiny ones. What the f~~~ are we talking about here other than a minor punishment for those who went against the Jerusalem nonsense?

Once again, this only proves who the U.S. is working for, directly and indirectly, and it is never in our benefit, just being bled f~~~ing dry.
