In the early 90’s a guy stole a tank from the National Guard armory and took off down his street running over parked cars. He drove around one car that was owned by a guy that had given him work when he was an unemployed plumber. The cops eventually shot him when he got onto Highway 163. Yeah, a divorce was involved. It happened in San Diego.
"Don't follow in my footsteps...I stepped in something."
That’s known as the Killdozer. The only reason the rampage didn’t go on longer is because the engine got a cooling leak and overheated. He shot himself inside the armored housing made of concrete, but it still took hours for the cops to actually get to him.
The killdozer was sequestered and later destroyed to stop admirers from getting any souvenirs. Of course the town didn’t learn anything from all this. They still think the way they treated him was appropriate.

I remember seeing that as well. I think it was an M-60 Patton he was driving. Got stuck on highway divider and was killed by cops. If he hadn’t been stupid, he could’ve gone on for quite a while.
Rennie the tank you are describing was in that doco KILLING OF AMERICA .
THE PLANTATION HAS NOW TURNED INTO THE KILLING FIELDS . WOMAN ARE NOW ROLLING CAMBODIAN STYLE .
I generally dont agree with violence and it does appear he likely went out of his way not to hurt anyone. But it sounds like he was pushed too far. Quote from him per wikipedia:
“I was always willing to be reasonable until I had to be unreasonable”, he wrote. “Sometimes reasonable men must do unreasonable things.”
"Women are directly adapted to act as the nurses and educators of our early childhood, for the simple reason that they themselves are childish, foolish, and short-sighted—in a word, are big children all their lives, something intermediate between the child and the man, who is a man in the strict sense of the word. Consider how a young girl will toy day after day with a child, dance with it and sing to it; and then consider what a man, with the very best intentions in the world, could do in her place.” Quote from Arthur Shopenhauer, 17th century philosopher
this is what society will push someone to do,
he probably never dreamed it would come to that.
