Not having to take care of an adult-chil, errr, I mean being a supportive boyfriend makes my favorite hobby so much easier.

For those who don’t know, I am a gun collector, so you can imagine the amount of money that goes into my hobby.  (Tons of it given my tastes in guns).

Just recently I caught one of my Unicorns so to speak.  I purchased my brand new H&K Mk23.

It is has passed the rigorous tests required by SOCOM, has been proven reliable in the harshest conditions ever, and is the ONLY pistol to my knowledge that was design to be a stand-alone platform in leiu of a rifle.  It’s manufacturers have a slogan: “In a world of compromise, some don’t”.  And more importantly, I think it symbolizes and embodies more of what MGTOW truly is.  We don’t compromise our values.  We are able to stand alone.  And we are capable of withstanding the harshest of conditions while manginas seek female approval and while even some bad-boys would be lost if the next day women stopped speaking to them.

I would love to post a photo but am yet to figure out how to do this on this forum as I am not really great with computers or the internet.  (Hey, I can’t be good at everything)  Anyway, if anyone could tell me how to do it, I would love to post that photo.

It is a beautiful weapon. I prefer my 45 to be the 1911 from Kimber.

    How to post images.

    1) Find the image you want to post

    2) Right click on said image and select Copy Image Location

    3) Come back to the forum and select the right most button in the text box called Insert/edit image. make sure you are in the Visual tab and not the Text tab. The default is Visual so it should be no problem.

    4) In the Source bar, just right click and select paste

    5) Then press OK, and your good.

    6) Use the white boxes around the image to make it the size you want.

    Enjoy!

Okay, that did not go over so well.  I am going to have to tinker with my computer a bit to get it to post.

    I purchased my brand new H&K Mk23

I love my HK45 but my favorite handgun is still my Sig Sauer 1911.

When females come over to my place and see my guns arrayed on the wall in my playroom they inevitably ask “Are those real?” Yep, they’re real… and I keep the rest of them in the safe in the closet here. I don’t really think of myself as a collector but when you get past 10, it’s hard to talk about “need”.

No problem, though, the word need is banned in my house anyway. I don’t need any guns… but I want them and I will buy them.

Now I’m missing my Kimber CDP Pro II, oh and my 4 shotguns, my 3 bows, my Mosin, springfield, and finally, the various babies I had overseas, my Browning .50, and my SAW…

I love firearms, they make me feel happy…

You are right, H&K does make some excellent guns. I do kinda find it hard to say which one I like the best though. I guess it depends on what mood I am in. If I am trying to relive my “glory days” in the 101st I shoot my M4. If I want to do some precision shooting it will either be my FAL, M1A, or my Weathersby Vanguard. If I feel like shooting something old school and foreign, my Mosin, my Zatsava, Llama, or my CETME works out well. If I am having a 5.7 day my PS-90 and Five-SeveN come out. If I feel like shooting something compact, I usually use my Walther P99. On special occasions, I will break out the Colt Python and/or the Desert Eagle.

I have heard the whole “need” deal too. But that is really just someone saying for “I don’t like it and I don’t like you owning it.” Pretty similar to some relatives asking me “When are you gonna get married, again?” It is like they are saying “We want you to do X with your life.”

The last one that asked me why I “needed” my M4 Carbine was from NY. I told her she would prefer to shoot that one over one of the more “traditional” looking guns. She found out she liked my PS-90 and my Five-seveN more than any other firearms. When we were at the gun store and I asked to look at the FS2000 they had she snatched it no sooner than the clerk put it over the counter. She had started saying things like “Damn, why are all the guns I like illegal in my home state.”

I am up to 38 guns now, so yeah, I don’t “need” anymore but it is well established that I want more.

Squatch, MGTOW lifestyle is the perfect lifestyle for getting the babies you want without someone else living with you and nagging you to death over it. You should really consider getting back into the hobby.

The MK23 wasn’t designed to replace a rifle, it was designed to make the handgun better. Handguns don’t have the range or power of a rifle round. It excels in everything a handgun can do, but it is too bulky and heavy for a pistol. Even the SEALS it was designed for prefer the USP Tactical. If there was a pistol that could “replace” a rifle, it would be one of the longer range pistol cartridges like the 7.62×25.

I like just about any gun. I haven’t owned many, an AK clone, couple of Glocks, a cheap but reliable .22 rifle, and a .380 I keep in my pocket. Love to shoot, though. Went to the range and shot another ex military buddy’s SOCOM, was pretty fun. We also had fun shooting coke cans at 20 yards with my LCP, yeah, not made for that, but it was fun, nonetheless.

H&K makes great guns, but they are pretty pricey, like SIGs, they are twice the cost of a Glock, but you don’t get twice the performance. Most handguns from any major manufacturer are accurate enough. I could hit empty shotgun shells at 30 yards with my Glock 19, no aftermarket parts. That’s more than enough accuracy. It’s not as sexy, but I see firearms more as a tool than anything else, and I train that way.

I don’t really get into the caliber war debate, far as that goes. Anything between 9mm and .45 ACP is going to have pretty similar performance in a hollowpoint round. FMJ is where the .45 really shines.

Like Jimbo, the M4 has a special place in my heart. Carried one overseas, saved my ass a couple times, though being a medic, I generally didn’t get into firefights that often, that was for the SAW gunner that was always with me.

I had to sell my last collection due to divorce and being broke…Going through my second divorce now (last one) and I vow not to sell what I have accumulated this time around even if I have to do without food. In fact I recently celebrated the filing of my divorce with some troy battle sights:)

I don’t have any guns at the moment, by choice. Having PTSD issues and I felt like giving myself a 9mm haircut a few months back, so I let my friend hang on to them. I’m about to go live on the Appalachian Trail for 9 months or so, and there are plenty of places there I can’t carry.

Once I graduate college though, I plan on buying myself a decent rifle.

I never said that the Mk23 was designed to replace the rifle. I said it was designed to be a stand alone platform like say in the event that a rifle or a submachine gun was completely unfeasible.

But you are right, there are a lot of SEALs that prefer the USP Tactical and the Sig P226 over the Mk23 due to it’s size.

Glock G19s are pretty solid guns. I know a few people that own them with no complaints. I have the G20 and G29.

    Sorry I misunderstood you.

I figured it was odd that someone with gun knowledge thought a pistol could replace a rifle. But, the MK23 is accurate as hell, heard of people hitting coke cans at like 80 yards, and .45ACP is ideal for suppressors.

Some of the PDW’s coming out look like a decent SMG replacer, with armor penetration as well. The H&K MP7 looks ideal for this, collapsible stock, can be used like a handgun, but will penetrate all the way through both sides of a GI helmet at 100 meters. It addresses some of the drawbacks of a handgun, no stock stabilization and longer sight radius, while still being somewhat small enough to carry on a thigh holster to replace a pistol. They look pretty promising.

I grew up with hunting, so I had lots of exposure to “long guns”.

I started “collecting” pistols a few years ago, and this past year started shooting at USPSA events.

I like “shooting” even better than “collecting”!

Yep, shooting is fun. I’d personally rather spend 500 on a handgun and 500 on ammo to shoot rather than dropping 1K on a handgun. Nothing wrong with buying one, or a lot of guns, it’s just my preference and is dictated by my financial situation. I don’t collect stuff because I find there is more freedom for me to just pack everything I own and head out somewhere if I feel like it. The more stuff you own, the more headaches, time spent on maintenance of gear, ect. The less you own, the more time you have to actually live.

Amen to this post.   I learned in the last few years to pick up quality weapons over quantity.      It’s far far better owning and running a $1500 customized rifle than a $400 milsurp piece of crap.

I was just talking with a girl from England in a bar the other night and the topic of guns came up. Of course she had all the usual comments to make… “Guns are designed to kill.” “Guns don’t make people safer.” “Why do you NEED a gun?” etc.

I told her this: “I am not going to sit here and argue with you about this. You clearly have an issue with firearms and I am not going to try to challenge your assumptions or change your mind. What I will say is this… in my country I have the right to own firearms and I want to own firearms so I own firearms. For so long as the first two continue to be true, the third will be as well. Now, when you get to Las Vegas, you let me know if you’d like to go shooting with me. I guarantee it will be an experience you will not forget.”

Two drinks later she was all “I’m gonna shoot a gun! Whoop whoop!!”

unless we are talking about an Ak.. Any Ak.:) good to see that some MGTOW are into fire arms. I  also support the  2nd amendment  to the fullest in anyway you can dice it up. my future fire arms would be  FN9S or C. Rifle Dynamics Aks and some kind of pump action 12 gauge.

Built my competition M1 GARAND to compete in CMP Matches, but can’t find any available IMR4064 at a reasonable price, so it just sits in my safe.
