Hi everyone, after lurking on the forums for a while, I’ve decided to join and introduce myself.
I ended up reading this website just to find out what “MGTOW” means, as I encountered the term in a comment on some random blog. I think it was mentioned as a man’s-rights movement, but now I see that’s not correct. From what I understand, it’s not really a movement but more of a concept, a philosophy, a way of life; and it’s not about rights in general, it is only about freedom.
For me, MGTOW means that a man should be free to live his life as he wants, within some reasonable bounds (mainly legal, ethical, moral). Do my own thing as long as I don’t hurt others. It sounds a bit strange to say this in the modern world (in most countries), since at least legally speaking it is assumed that we are all free. Slavery has been abolished a long time ago. But the fact is many people don’t really do what they want with their life, I think primarily because they don’t really know what they want. So they just imitate others and/or bend to peer pressure, setting other people’s goals as their own, and in the end living the life of someone else. The result is unhappiness, which can be somewhat diminished through ignorance and a good regular dose of friends/spouse/family/priest helping them remember that they’re living a good life each time they seem to forget.
So if that’s the wrong thing to do, what is right? What does a good life mean? Here’s the nice thing, everyone should decide for themselves. But the way we make decisions is crucial. Our decisions will always be influenced to some extent by people around us, that is inevitable. But we need to keep a clear head, use reason, don’t lie to ourselves, use common sense as opposed to emotion, understand ourselves and how we think, understand the people around us, understand what they want and how they think, what makes them tick, and when in doubt, not rush into making decisions that will affect our life on long term. This will reduce external influences greatly and will help us live our life as we want. Take life in our hands.
A side effect is that this increases greatly our responsibility. When we know that we made some decisions which were close to 100% our own and things don’t go well, there’s no way to blame others, at least not truthfully. A lot of people are afraid of this. They are terrified of taking responsibility for their actions, so they just join the lemming train and let their life be led by someone else. It’s easy: when things are well they feel happy, when they’re not they just feel glad they can blame others for their problems. Convince themselves it’s justice. Burn the witches and party. Emotional people living like animals. I know it’s harsh and not nice to say, but it’s the truth. Most people live like this.
I’d like to add one more thing, since I’ve been thinking about this a lot and I’m curious to know what you think. I’m really not trolling here: There is nothing that prevents these principles from being applied by women. Surely, they are more emotional than men by nature and they have certain strong instincts. Peer pressure and many elements of our culture/education (both in traditionalism and feminism) are also in the way. But they have a brain fully capable of reason too and nothing prevents them from controlling their emotions and getting a grip on their life. They certainly have to put in more effort than men, but I don’t think it’s impossible. Maybe I’m naive. But I for sure would like to see it happen, the world would be a better place and all that.
