How can you claim “equality” and then do s~~~ like this? “Computers are more designed for male needs” LOL WTF? This world is going nutsos:

    http://freebeacon.com/issues/feds-spend-345019-to-make-computers-with-gender-sensitive-designs/

The article is so convoluted, like all things feminist, and I dont see what their really going to do here

The [Principal Investigator] PI’s long-term goal is to create theory to inform [Human-Computer Interaction] HCI design practices, to ensure the production of egalitarian designs that reflect all users’ values,” a grant for the project states. “In particular, she aims to create feminist theory for HCI, which she hopes will close the gap in women’s participation in computing.”

“Previously, the PI has shown how approaches to designing for women are questionable when viewed in light of feminist theory,” the grant continued. “Feminist scholars argue that the lack of women in computing further discourages women from pursuing programming-related careers, and that women are also excluded because technologies created by men better address male needs.”

The research will also explore “gender and technical identities” and the belief that computer system designs “alienate women.”

“The PI believes the problem lies not only in who is excluded but in that the design processes inherently alienate women,” the grant said. “Her approach is to address the problem by bridging previously unrelated aspects of the learning sciences, human-computer interaction, and the science and technology studies of gender, which will be combined with findings from a multi-year ethnographic study to acquire a deep understanding of how girls co-construct their gender and technical identities, how technologies come to be associated with one gender or the other, and how this affects girls’ career choices.”

It seems more unlikely this is for “gender issues” and more for money. Strange s~~~ yes sir. Ancient may I say this is “very nutsos” indeed.

Haha yeah I was going to say:

“This means she wants free money.”

    But DukeToga said it better.

    This is so ass backwards.

Back in the day people would enter computer programs using toggle switches. Then came the punch card. Eventually “high level languages” were created that use arithmetic and logical expressions in a “human readable” form (not a “male readable” form), which was then interpreted by other software down to the level of 1’s and 0’s computers understand.

There are literally thousands of programming languages today, because there have literally been thousands of programmers who were not completely happy with any of the existing languages, or had some other personal itch to scratch.

So, ladies, if you’re having a hard time figuring out how to use the tools created by men, you can just do what we did and invent a new tool that is better suited to your needs. It’s not hard. And you don’t need “feminist theory” to guide you. Just figure out what works for you, and hope that others find it useful too. Simple.

Another crock o’ s~~~. Men are built to solve problems. Women are here to create problems.

I haven’t met one that cannot use Facebook to the hilt though.

Actually, many of the “programmers” of punch card and switch based computers were females working on those monstrosities, then 40 years of feminism come along and computers are sexist,

The study has cost taxpayers $345,019 so far.

It wont go anywhere, youre right. When you live in a society that says a machine, a f~~~ing machine is discrimantory, you know its upside down.

Computers are simply a tool that serve a functionary purpose. The user is in control and it does what the user wants. On second thought, its no wonder women dont like them. They get want they want out of them, hence miserable female.

“women are also excluded because technologies created by men better address male needs……believes the problem lies not only in who is excluded but in that the design processes inherently alienate women”

What about all those technologies created by WOMEN……..

    For example uhhhhh,

    and the Ummmm,

    E X A C T L Y . . . . . . .

No f~~~s to be given here.

When the war cemeteries are half full of the corpses of dead conscripted women, only then will women have earned the right to speak of equality. Sidecar “A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.” - Bob Dylan

Basically they want computers to be stupid like them and I’m sad to say they’ve already largely succeeded at this by taking the technicality out of today’s technology. It’s why the typical computer of today looks and acts more like a kids toy than a serious work tool.

They entered the data, but most of them did not write the assembly code that went on those switch/punch card machines.

The problem is computers only understand logic. I’d be mad too if half the world and all of the machines I payed for couldn’t comprehend me.

My computer has serious “daddy issues,” and I exploit it ruthlessly!

    Another yapping…

I’ve got a simple solution, how about you, female, invent it yourself? The tools that suited all your needs, in this case, a computer that suited you, female, need?, instead of yapping so male would invented those for you.

A programming language is pure logic.. maybe this is why women usually are not interested in programming and computers in general. In a normal world women simply would have chosen another job.. In this world we must reinvent informatics to be women-friendly because a machine can be labeled as sexist! WTF?
I consider this nonsense only like a great source for jokes.. let’s have fun of it!

    I start:
My femPC refused to do calculation and then a message shown up: “Stop bothering me!I’ve got headache!”

    Or

The new female programming language will be more versatile than old misogynistic language: you can write allusive statements, lying functions.. oh and of course you must always attach a courtship dll, fundamental to put in the “right mood” your pc so it will execute your program! Remember to be always inventive: routines are boring! Be different!

Seriously, such news only deserve a good laugh.
