I’m ashamed now, but wasn’t then. I was in total love with my girlfriend. She said, essentially, marry me or I will leave you. She was my first real love, so I did it, got married. I, like many, did not have the confidence to think otherwise. Like other men, we were sharing an apartment, and had minimal incomes, so, breaking up then would put me back on the street trying to find a place on one income. 30 years later, we made it work.
I’m divorced now. As usual, it was the wife who filed first. My guess, after been through this, a divorce is a lawsuit, and the plaintiff files to gain money. I am so against marriage contracts now. But my relatives will not even forward this URL to their sons to read when they are involved in a pre wedding situation.
I’m lucky that I never had to get my kids at McDonalds for every other weekend. I’m lucky that at least my wife, waited until the kids were out of college. Many men here have been though horrors I never had to endure. Still, 4 years for a divorce, $7,300 total s~~~ty lawyer costs. A rich man pays way more than that, especially when one has to divide a business or two.
Point is. Do NOT do a marriage contract. Marry for LOVE. Diss the legal junk. Nuff said…..
