    Good morning everyone.

This thread won’t be up or in your face for long. The recent attempts to ruin more than just our hair prompted a few sudden re-workings, and we had to do them in a hurry — although the forums remain largely unchanged , and only improved upon. For example, new members can’t post or join until they confirmed their email, added an avatar, and their status by default is now “spectator” for 24 hours. A couple of other things were brought up and we want to give you a thread if you’re having an issue – say – with starting a topic, composing a reply, or anything like that. Here’s a little list of mentions, and if you’re experiencing anything odd, or even if you don’t like something, please just drop it here and we will look into it.

Trying to find out what’s most common so we can prioritize.

    • Internet Exploder™ v.1o or 11 users (2 or 3 of them) have reported not being able to click a topic title in a forum. Try this: Click “MINIMIZE FOR MOBILE” (upper left of every forums page) and see the forums completely un-enhanced out of the box. If this makes the topic link clickable where it wasn’t otherwise, let us know. — OR — try a very new browser like Chrome / Firefox / Safari and see if that does it. We don’t care about IE v.9 or lower. But 10+ should work. Let us know if it doesn’t.

    • Any issue creating new topic or reply? Only a “participant” can create topics and replies. For members who joined prior to AUG 21, that’s everyone. New members have to wait until we switch them to “participant”. But if you’re a participant and have a problem creating a topic or reply, do let us know using the contact form if you can’t rep[y to this.

•The new compose window got a rave review from many, but we did away with “the visual editor” to greatly reduce the number of replies that could be marked “spam” or “pending” by the filter — due to strange characters, questionable links, or junky looking text. A couple get held back in “pending” per day, so don’t be alarmed if one or two of yours doesn’t show right away. If you tried it TWICE, that’s what happened. So we will publish it ASAP. There is nothing in the queue right now.

Anything else? Got a gripe? Don’t search for the right words, just do the best you can to explain it and we will look into it if something isn’t quite right for you.

    Thanks very much.

KM, I don’t see the create topic option. I am using Google Chrome. I was beginning to think I had been black listed 🙂 Maybe my Adam & Eve thing was bit over the top.

Really. That’s what prompted my message! Another user emailed us about that. Wanted to know if it’s anyone else. Thanks for letting me know. I’lll get back on that ASAP but require a little patience. Big thanks for reporting.

OK i just logged in as a test/ member / guest / participant and CAN see the create topic option. Also verified that you have the capability. Since you tell me that you don’t see a “create topic” compose window, please take a second and visit…..

    /forums/forum/answers/

…. and let me know if you still don’t see it. Then I will:

    * Temporarily change your password
    • Log in as you (so I can see what you see)
    • And email you a new password reset link so you can set your password back again.

Have also just replaced the entire forums only 5 minutes ago – so we know it’s not a bit of code missing.

I believe, and i may be wrong on this gents, that MGTOW.com has been under maintenance recently due to cyber attacks (like i said, only hear-say), the cause of which remains unclear. hence the durations of time where the website remained “down” and hence the recent change in user requirements.

Here is a excerpt from an email I received involving a question I had:

“””””Q. Seeing as todays culture is constantly moving toward mobile application, do you, as a the leading “spokesMAN” of MGTOW, see this movement transitioning to the mobile platform as an application in the near future?

It would be best to think of us as “a website” and not one person who is a spokesperson for MGTOW.

    MGTOW are.

We think of this website as belonging more to YOU – and ALL MGTOW – than to us.
We only constructed the building and mop the floors – so to speak.

But yes, we have some mobile in development but first our website is number one and still being developed with a mobile-first approach. There is MUCH work going on underneath the hood including some extended features nobody else has, and then we have plans to create some mobile apps. But first things first! over the last 2 weeks, someone tried to shut us down 5 times and our website went dark for some big blocks of time. They were unsuccessful, but we lost DAYS of production and we are quite exhausted at the moment – still trying to play catch up.

In any case. Welcome to MGTOW!”””””

as you can see, the site has been under much scrutiny in the recent days.

I am still a nada KM. You can take week at this I don’t care, I was sure I had something grand and important to say this morning but I can’t remember what it was now… Plus I am not sure if playing around with creative writing experiments belong in a forum. This is the first time I have ever joined one.

I have posted a few programmy things over at Code Project and Stack Overflow but that’s about it.

OK Felix… I’m gonna log in as you which will kick you out for a while – and requires that I change your password to do so.
Then I will leave a note here when I am out of your account and email you so you can get back in.. More in a bit.

Thanks for getting back on this. More in a bit. I’ll take care of it,.

Ok I’m back and can verify that Felix can see the compose window (to start a topic) in Chrome Firefox and Safari.

Shapshot is attached where you can see “Felix” is logged in (upper left) with all 3 browser windows open.
I have just send you a “password reset” link so you can get back in again.
Please change your password to something else.

As an extra investigative measure, you can log in and click the “minimize for mobile” button (top left of every forums” page) to temporarily display the forums without anything fancy. Undo the setting by clicking the same button which will then change its label to “view enhanced”. This will display the forums in their most naked form, and will ensure you are seeing everything its default state. If a “create topic” option shows up in that display mode for you, please let me know and we can debug that. But otherwise other members are creating topics and replies just fine.

On my home laptop I can create a topic in health and fitness, because at bottom of any topic there , I see a ” create a topic ” box..Easy to use. .However in other areas I don’t find that option. .only a box for responding ..not for starting a new topic.. btw, you guys are absolutely amazing, and the site is really state of the art ! I’m so very glad that I found mgtow !

This is a small gripe, but I figured I’d air it anyway.

I don’t like the fade in + expand thing the names/avatars do now. I know it’s supposed to help make things look slick, but I just find it distracting and sort of annoying especially as this happens every time I scroll up or down on a page. I would like a way to turn this off such as a checkbox in my profile settings.

It’s probably not important, but I’m using the current version of Firefox.

That has merit. The avatar zooming in is removed, but we’re keeping it for the names for now. It’s subtle enough, but I can see why the avatars were a bit too much.

OIC. Ill try and explain so it makes easy sense.

There are 3 kinds of posts in the forums. Forums.. Topics and Replies.
When you arrive in a forum, you see a list of TOPICS.
Under that list of topics, you can create a new topic.

Within a topic, you see a list of REPLIES.
Under that list of replies, you can create a new reply.

You can’t just “create a new topic” from anywhere. It depends on what you’re looking at, and you are presented with the ability to create a new topic – OR – a reply. Not both.

    /forums/forum/answers/
That’s a forum. Scroll down and you can create a topic.

I hope that clears it up for you.

Do you get paid to develop and maintain this site? If so, what do you sell? If not, how on Earth do you have time to do this? This site looks like it takes an entire team of expert programmers to maintain. Are you a government employee who gets paid to do nothing all day, and just work on this site at work?

Just curious. Not meant to be insulting – the opposite actually. I am complimenting you on the amazing site, but as a man, you already knew that.

Happy to hear it gents, And it turns out Felix was able to report topics after all too. So this thread will be reduced to normal and thrown into Q&A. Thanks for getting back and glad to know you’re thumbs up on it.
