Going back to college soon and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on how to succeed in school? I failed two classes last semester so now I’m on Academic Probation. I’ll be honest and say I didn’t have good study habits and wasn’t taking everything seriously (took notes in my phone instead of writing them) but I really want to get a degree, career, and secure my academic future.

You’ve answered your own question. You need to have good study habits. You need to take it seriously and take proper notes, which means you don’t skip classes. You know what you need to do – the question is: do you have the self discipline to do it?

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that just showing up for class is enough. You have to pay attention to the entire class. Take notes by writing. When you write things down, it helps your brain remember things better than any other way.

Study every night. You don’t have to study 8 hours a day. Just make sure to study every night, maybe an hour a night.

Take it seriously.

Get into a study group; there are many; or start one. Get involved in the classes. College is not the place to party and hang out like in high school. Work at it.
