At work we had a big event for “women in charge”. We had a corporate magazine exclusive on all the women who have “broken the glass ceiling” and thrived in our corporation. While all of the articles were bulls~~~ about how psyche and musical theory majors were now heads of HR or management or whatever one stuck out to me in particular. At young girl in her twenties, about my age was on the fast track of management with an exclusive interview to inspire young women that they can be just like her.

This girl hasn’t been working in this corporation that long. I have been working for about a year and a half. She’s been here about two and a half years. The crowning achievement that got her the exclusive as a female engineer? She installed a laundry room for our workers who are exposed to heavy metal environments (before we had a third party sanitize the uniforms). What have I done? I have:

-reclaimed a critical process that was lost when a worker went awol and left the company with the knowledge to do the process
-repaired a retrofitted machine that they bought UNFINISHED
-designed tooling to expand the capabilities of other machines to streamline their processes
-streamlined the steps for their production orders
-caught them up while they were late by a month

That, was just me in a year and a half; there are others who have been working longer than she or I have and have done much more (I only got a $100 gift card to Macy’s). How can anyone not see this for the bulls~~~ it really is? What’s worse, even SHE probably doesn’t comprehend that she doesn’t deserve the position she has. Guys like me are stuck in entry level positions despite making everything work while the women could come into work and scream, “I POOPED!!!” and they’d be given senior design positions and managerial positions. How can we even focus on a career when we are purposely held back with no fault of our own? We are stuck, we can’t become the rich successful men that everyone knows women want, because the women won’t let us succeed. We can’t make a lot of money and achieve our dreams because others wont let us. I want to believe this is a problem in my company but, lets be honest, it’s in every company.

How can these women be so solipsistic to believe they are oppressed, when they literally cannot fail in life? They have a system that has them automatically succeed at the expense of others and they STILL feel like there is a “Glass Ceiling” that they are breaking through.

The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"... and I'll whisper "no."

    It is in every company.

As long as you work for a paycheck this is what you will see. Don’t hate it.

Worry about you. Concentrate on you.
    Nothing but you. Nothing.

Do More. Be more. Up your skill set. Learn more. College and education is just the foundation.

Find your area of kick ass.
Look to the future with the goal of your own company.

Everything you are seeing is nothing. It doesn’t go anywhere. Stay out of the limelight. Seek the knowledge light.

There are old men in nooks and cranny’s (I know because I am one) find them and learn. You have to seek us out.

Just be proud you have the skills…The c~~~s on the other hand doesnt know jack s~~~…

Know your value in the skills and abilities that you have…
Know that wherever you are you will survive and thrive…

Let the c~~~s have the glass ceiling, the glass house, the glass slippers. Let them bleed when the glass illusion shatters and they come face to face with true responsibility the moment a major problem arises…Let them find the solution to that problem with inadequate skills because it will be their problem and not your job….

I stand with feet apart and let my balls hang free...Manginas dont have balls...See how they stand and sit at the whim of their masters...

I am surprised more men wrong by society are not communists from the stand point of controlling whom can have jobs and what jobs those are.

You dont go communist because of this. You go Galt.

Trying to but they are literally pushing the young men back and having the young women work with these experienced professionals. I’m still stuck in the lower positions, I don’t get to delve into design I’m stuck in manufacturing. They’re going to keep me there because I actually do a good job and even listen to my mentor. Despite this, I will never have the same prestige as a designer or the authority of a manager (let alone the pay check).

I understand what you are complaining about, Arc. It really is ridiculous, isn’t it? This is probably the best response:

“Look to the future with the goal of your own company.”

    Here ya go:

Meet Charlie: Turning Technicians Into Heroes for Customers
Our technicians spend their days working in the communities where they live. They have an important job that finds them in our customers’ homes every day. They are engineers in the home who configure wifi networks and set up video platforms but also fix any issues that arise. They are product ambassadors and teachers that can help our customers set up their xFi user profiles or learn how to access Netflix through the X1 platform. Their top priority is creating an excellent experience for our customers and they bring that commitment to work every day.

We’re extremely proud of our team of technicians and we want to share their stories.

Meet Charlie from Portland, Oregon. Charlie is a tech supervisor, a mother and the wife of a Comcast Technician. Her commitment to her work and community can be experienced through her story. There are Comcast technicians like Charlie working in our customers’ homes every day in every city and town where we provide service.

A tech “supervisor” who probably couldn’t handle doing the tech work.

“Look to the future with the goal of your own company.”

Yeah, I agree. It’s just not so easy to start your own company anymore. Back in my father’s day, yeah, you could work a minimum wage job, pay your way through college, get a degree that actually distinguished you from others, work hard and be promoted on merit, disengage from your first job with a golden handshake, and start your own company with reasonable financial security and become the next “maker and shaker”.

Now days, your degree means little to nothing because almost everyone has one, your labor costs peanuts because the market is just saturated with available workers, company’s are willing to just keep hiring people for short bursts of time except for older generations like baby-boomers because they have all the experience, political correctness determines who gets promoted, and if you have any gaps in your employment record you basically are f~~~ed. Plus #Metoo can just f~~~ your life in a moments notice. Don’t get me wrong, to get past all that, you have no choice but to try to get your own company. But can you blame me for feeling the situation is dire if not hopeless?

Meanwhile, mother f~~~ing Charlie…. she is pretty much set for life. Practically guaranteed job security, promotions, guaranteed financial security, and she even fulfilled her biological function and passed on her genes. All of this is just handed to her regardless of actual talent or competence. F~~~ me right?

All I can say is if you’re too good at your job, you stay put in that position and those who f~~~-up get promoted.
There’s all kinds of psychological bulls~~~ tied-up in that, but seems to hold true.

Real good = keep at it.
    Aloof f~~~tard = promoted.

Sorry I can’t offer much help, I would suggest work in a remote oil field or mine camp for bigger $$ and less

Learn a trade. Within ten years, fewer than 1% of those women will still be working those kinds of jobs. They just shuffle the women around and hemorrhage expertise.

Most of the women will leave to make babies. Some of them will leave to make failing companies. A few of them will still have that job. None of them will rise higher on their own.

Well, the sad truth is I’m not the only man going through this and if I am going to look at the glass as half-full, I at least have a job. Finding one was a bitch, even with a Master’s degree in engineering. I was resented by my folks and my community right away after college, for about a year and a half. My parents thought I was a complacent, lazy moocher while I was unemployed and their friends weren’t afraid to say what they really thought of me and I was looking for work the whole time. That’s what I went through, even now I am sure there are many guys that are actually smarter than me that didn’t get the job.

Still, I do appreciate the advice Maverick, it is good stuff.

I graduated during the housing and tech crash in 2008/2009. I had an average of 3 interviews every week, for over 2 years, while I was working a full-time and a part-time retail job (simultaneously). I work in tech and I write software now, but it took me 2 years to get my foot in the door at a call center on the hope that if I put in enough blood, I could move out in the company and actually use my degree. It worked out for me, but it was personally humiliating for awhile.

Yeah, experience is the big keyword these people want. 5-years experience in the industry, even if you are doing grunt work. The young women our age though get to by-pass that bulls~~~.

According to sites like OKCupid and various survey data that’s been published, across the board millennial women are out-earning millennial men. I have a sneaking suspicion this is just a manifestation of the universal human trend where women are front-ended their social capital and in 20 years, those millennial men will be out-earning those millennial women, mostly because the women will elect to take a break from the work force and the men won’t have that option.
