You can’t get everything you want in life, so I think the best deal for a man is: having a compensation package. My ideal compensation package would be: having my own land, a house, some cars, and a large retirement account. That way, I don’t have to worry about losing my job and hustling to find another job to pay my bills.

I want to reiterate the advice I’ve seen in these forum posts for the younger generation of MGTOWs:

    1. Earn a paycheck and be a courteous, reliable employee in the workplace.
    Avoid gossip/drama.
    2. Save your money.
    3. Invest your money.
    4. Don’t get a woman pregnant.
    5. Educate yourself. Go to a trade school or a university if you can.
    Upgrade your job skills.
    6. Don’t let the woman you’re dating screw up your goals. Your life does not belong to her.

Life is a s~~~ty deal for most people. But what I don’t understand is: having the mentality that things are never going to get any better. If you’re born into poverty, that’s just a starting point. The lack of money and social status does not define who you are as a person. Do what it takes to upgrade your life. It may take a lot of years to do it, but it’s worth the struggle. After 30 years of working & investing, you should have your own compensation package.

Look at the faces of those who have given up on life. They have a thousand-yard stare. Your life can be better than that. History has shown us that fortune favors the bold. So go out into the world and stake your claim!

Just opened up an investment account and put my first deposit in, waiting for markets to open in the morning to throw down on some SWHC

    2. Save your money.
    3. Invest your money.

These are huge. We were talking at work the other day about what would happen if the place closed down. Most people were scared out of their minds even thinking about it. They have big mortgages, car payments, and in some cases expensive wives/girlfriends…they don’t save or invest much. They might have a bit in a 401k but nothing meaningful given their current spending levels and age…even if they hit the 401k early they’d just burn through it in a few months and end up f~~~ed. Loss of income for them means they lose everything.

I’m quite the opposite…my living expenses are pretty low and I’ve been saving a big chunk of my pay since times have been good for me lately. I could go a few years off savings if I had to, and I also know a minimum wage job would be enough for me to break even and still probably save a little, so even if I was unable to find another decent job quickly its a huge relief knowing that it isn’t going to take a hell of a lot of income to prevent me from backpedaling financially or having the bank repo/foreclose on anything of mine.

I’m so glad I never fell into the debt trap, and that I’m a frugal bastard. So much peace of mind comes with those things. From witnessing how people stress over finances…its pretty damn nice not having finances be a source of stress in my life…the fancy car or the big house aren’t worth the worry.

You are indeed correct on many fronts. Wise man.

Einstein stated that the strongest force in the universe is compound interest. We can generalize this to investment income. Saving small amounts regularly, over a long period of time, and reinvesting the dividends knows no bounds.

Like yourself, I could work a minimum wage job and have the property taxes, food, insurance, utilities and gas for my vehicle covered. It would be tight, but I would not be out on the street. Plus, I would simply rent out a room in my house should the worse happen. That why I like some real-estate in my portfolio as it has a practical use as well.

I come from very modest, poor roots. I had little growing up. Best thing that ever happened to me. It built character and made me strive for my academic and career goals. I am very comfortable not living with the tapering of excessive wealth. The ex wife never found a dollar she did not like spending.

While other colleagues have boats, sports car etc – I simply forgo all that and save about 50% of my income in retirement savings. Odd time the mood strikes to drive a fast car – rent it for the day. There is an old saying: 4F’s – If it floats, fly’s, goes fast or f~~~s, it cheaper to rent it by the hour. Should have listen to this and never married.

    - Marriage is described as an institution. You would have to be crazy to be commited to it. -"If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal. Not people or things" Albert Einstein

I have to learn how to be frugal.

This is the way to do it for sure. Save hard when you are young and take advantage of compounding to the fullest. If you can save 300k by your mid 30s and are ok working til 65 you would be a multi million by the time you retired with just 7% yearly average returns even if you stopped saving completely and spent 100% of what you made. Of course you’d also have the option to continue saving hard at that point and really shave years off your retirement age, which is pretty awesome too…but regardless…I’d much rather be 35 with the option to already be “done” saving for retirement or in good shape to retire by 40 if I kept doing what I was doing for a few more years than to be 35 with minimal savings telling myself I’m going to start getting serious about it…next year…

I have to learn how to be frugal.

Its not hard…the big things are just avoid debts, car payments and student loans will really kill your budget. Be frugal about monthly recurring expenses as well…things like cable tv and an expensive cell phone package will kill you when you could get netflix and a simple talk and text plan instead. Same for car insurance as well…don’t be afraid to call around every year…last time I changed insurance companies my bill got reduced by about 50%, which saved me about 400 dollars a year for literally visiting a web site and making a 3 minute phone call. I’m also going to be changing my internet provider real soon that will save me 30 bucks a month(360 a year).

If you can get these big things under control an occasional night out with buddies or trip out to eat really won’t break your budget. You’d be amazed how many people I know think they are being frugal because they stopped at dunkin donuts before work instead of starbucks, then pull out their fancy smart phone they upgrade every 6 months with a 180 dollar monthly package and start web browsing while enjoying their coffee, and you just laugh at their “frugalness”. In my opinion its really just finding a balance…bleeding hundreds of bucks a month on luxury s~~~ you don’t really need isn’t being frugal, but at the same time if you spend nothing on fun money or hobbies you are just going to burn yourself out.
