And decided to not go with just insulting dads.
I’m sure it’s partly the product that the company sells. But considering how last year was stuffed with “my mom is my dad” crap for Father’s Day; (because god forbid a father be considered in a positive manner), it’s a little surprising.Still not heading back to the plantation but it’s refreshing to see.
Father’s day is a load of crap. Feminists and modern/western people like to give lectures about how men are required to be “father figures” to children and spout all sorts of nonsense along with it.

Speak for yourself. It’s one day a year that those of us (men) who work and sacrifice daily for our kids actually get a modicum of recognition for it instead of being portrayed as hapless slobs who are lucky to have some woman fixing everything (turn on any sitcom).
I’ll take what I can get, although as someone pointed out, they’re even trying to take over fathers day too by making it yet another tribute to women.

We should get that recognition every day of the week, at all times. The man is the head of the household and children must submit to fathers. Father’s day never existed before the 20th century… the century which also marked the rise of women and everything else that comes with it.
Here’s a better one.
And yes, Lavagulin is damn good whiskey if you got a 100 bucks to blow. Has a great hint of oak and woodsy flavor and smell, and is very smooth. It’s like drinking some goddamn good whisky.
man, look at the comments section on that gilette vid. The effects of not having a father around can be seen simply by reading it.
Learn from the past, Control the present, and you will know the Future.
So Gillette is telling children to: “Go ask dad.” Who do they think they are advertising to here?
I don’t think Gillette is aware of just how many children will respond with: “Who?”
I believe it’s somewhere around half of all children are being raised without their fathers, and in the black community it’s something like nine in ten. How can they “go ask dad” if they don’t know who he is?
And that is not the fault of men.

The worst part of it all is the number saying something to the effect of, “My dad left me.” You can read their mothers’ self serving bile flowing through them into their comments.
I want to ask every one of them: “Did he really leave? Or was he pushed away?”
I don’t have much use for Father’s day. Yes, I am one, but it’s just another day as far as I’m concerned. Although appreciation is nice, it’s not what drives me and far from the best part of being a Dad.
As far as I’m concerned, Hallmark can have it back.
Ok. Then do it.
I always told my son not to bother with that s~~~. He was quite appreciative of not having to worry about the nonsense. Raising my son and doing something for him is my responsibilty, i don’t need a pat on the back for it. Only women need that crap.
I didn’t think many men considered it has having any value or purpose. Be interesting to hear other guys feelings towards it.

It’s not about needing a pat on the back. It’s about not being completely taken for granted – like on the other 364 days of the year.

I don’t feel taken for granted at all. Not from my kids anyway.
I think it’s a personality type of thing. I don’t think it’s wrong to want to see your kids and have it about you 1 or 2 days of the year. That’s a big difference from the typical woman who needs almost every day to be about her.

Well me neither, but I’m talking about from the view of society as a whole. It’s easy to say “who gives a shiat what society thinks,” but the more invisible and taken for granted we are, the less likely things will ever improve.
I know there are some people on this site who would the *thrilled* to have good men and fathers treated like crap until the end of time. They almost feed on the oppression like some weird messianic complex.
I for one would like to hope that someday fathers will be seen as something close to equally important in children’s lives, and therefore deserving of equal treatment.
That’s never going to happen if we stay invisible. At least one day a year we’re not quite so invisible, and I for one am grateful for that and celebrate it.

The ad actually isn’t that bad except the father didn’t tell his son how to be an asshole like his pops (like the yam would do) but aside from that i see it as a pretty decent ad.
Also some of you guys need to lighten up getting a hoilday is womanly since women will try to make the other days about them. Christmas is mostly about women and children wanting gifts, valentines is about her, and so is her birthday. In fact women go as far as to make their kids birthdays about them as well since they make it not about the kid but her experience on that day.
So men having a hoilday for their fathers still is not equal to all the other holidays about spending money for women.
Just an east coast asshole who likes to curse, If you get offended by words like fuck, cunt, shit, piss, bitch or any racial slurs then you just scroll down.

That’s fine Biggvs. We’re all different.
I’ve just never personally felt the need to be celebrated. My son has always thanked me when I’ve done something for him, and that’s the only thanks I’ve ever needed.
I don’t demand that my worldview be adopted by all and sundry though. It just works for me.

Both boys and girls need their father as a role model.
I would say that in todays world, boys need a strong male figure in their lifes more than ever.
The problem is, today men cant be men anymore, so how can boys grow up without a father figure?
how can boys grow up without a father figure?
I think this will illustrate how they will grow up:

Anonymous42Hey kids, F~~~ GILLETTE! $25.00 Bucks just to shave?
Get one of these! It will last you decades! I used mine when the razor just had to much to cut<<<clue) then I figured one day? Hmm, why am I paying so much for razors when I have to use the dog groomer first? I haven’t purchased razors in years! And it’s way the f~~~ faster and trims way better than a blade!
