The German article shares several similarities with the UK articles from earlier in year and that despite being translated.
I’ve written here about journalism, especially the freelance variety, several times now. I strongly believe the same piece is “echoing” throughout the mainstream media worldwide. Sometimes it’s republished without changes, much like the Daily Mail piece showing up in an Australian paper. Sometimes only passages are borrowed, much like this German piece. Sometimes only the idea of a MGTOW article – along with all the same preconceptions and falsehoods – is borrowed, just as with the f~~~~~ who showed up here asking for interviews so he could type up a story for the GQ Junior web rag he works for.
If anything, this shows just how fundamentally lazy and intellectually incestuous reporters are. As DarkSith pointed out, “research” is little more than reading a Wiki link or visiting Reddit for an hour or so. The same “facts”, quotes, and whatnot are mindlessly repeated over and again whether a piece is either republished without any changes, sees the same “info” rewritten slightly, or is “pimped” up a bit with new content.
Reporters aren’t even developing their own idea as whoever typed the German piece proves. They’d obviously have seen the early pieces and decided they could easily fashion a piece that was “new enough”. Accordingly, they lifted entire passages, rewrote some others, and dropped in a few news bits.
In journalism, plagiarism isn’t the sincerest form of flattery, it’s a necessary skill.
