So the guy that sat next to me in the cube farm killed himself last week. Ok, s~~~ happens. What p~~~es me off is that there was nothing from the company, his/mine boss said nothing. Not a God Damn word. Like he didn’t even exist.

All I wanted to see was a single email saying that XXX died, member of the family, valuable person, Human f~~~ing being. Not a God Damn word.

It tells me how much they value me.

God F~~~ing Damn. This makes me mad. Workers aren’t human anymore. I’m a capitalist but I’m also a human being. I’m not asking to shut down the plant for a week, a simple acknowledgment of a tragedy.

    What have we become?

Corporations, especially large ones, don’t value their employees at all. They use them and throw them out like a used tissue.

This is why I’m always searching for the next best job available. I’d never be loyal to a company in the same way they’ll never be loyal to me.

Big companies treat men like s~~~ unless they’re CEOs or an important figure to make them millions. And even then, they’ll toss you out if they can get something better.

That sir is the red pill of reality! We’re as disposable as a soggy wet paper cup.

It’s a sad day for the western world as heartlessness rules the day… A ghost doesn’t have a body so that makes him a nobody!

    What have we become?

We’ve become something better, the question is what have they become? Empathy dissolves in the fires of pride…

You’re on a roll with topics I’m passionate about. I f~~~ing HATE corporations. Every time I have worked for one it has been a grafting job(on me by them). You are a number , and deserve to be micro-managed to the Nth degree because you’re stupid(in their eyes) , and their goal is just to suck you dry….no quality of life. Every time I ended up doing the bare minimum until I could get the f~~~ out of there. I work for a medium size FAMILY owned and run wholesale company now. I bust my ASS for them because I love what I do and WANT to be a part of something special , and I do my part to make it succeed. That type of effort is seldom rewarded in the corporate world.

    Chataeu,

Amen. I get you. If someone told me they had my back, I’d give 110%. They just told me I need to forget about retiring from there.

They paid a headhunter 20K to get me here… 3 years I’m 100% vested. guess what happens then.

    Jan.Sobieski ,

20K ? I’d be knocking on the f~~~ers door and wanting my cut. With that kind of cheese you could start trading futures if you know what you’re doing. Well , you used to be able to , probably takes 50k now. The last mis-adventure with corporate crap came a year ago when guess who started telling me …”you need to work for a big company so you have benefits”. So I started working for the overwhelming market leader in the state(number 2 wholesale wine company in the USA). I started working WAY more(65-70 hours a week) for LESS money. Always had to work 6 days a week , and always on Sunday(our day we always spent together and I sometimes got sex). I let it go on for 4 months , and they screwed me out of money twice(and I mean shorted my commissions $1500 the last time). On the last time , I waited until the end of the month when they were knee deep in s~~~ for every person to help do , and walked. The wholesale wine business is dirty and cut throat anyway , but the 2 big corporations here in TX that dominate the market are the worst dirt bags you will find.

    This is definitely do-able.

I got my current job through a headhunter.
The company paid me a signing bonus of 4%.
The company paid the headhunter a ~16% fee.

My placement at the company was that headhunter’s first placement there. That’s a good spot to be in.

I told the headhunting company that the 4% signing bonus wasn’t enough. Headhunter matched it from their own fee to “close the deal.”

My signing bonus went from 4% -> 8%. Next time you’re looking at new jobs do your homework. Depending on the industry & your position, 15% more than their initial offering is usually very achievable.

Ah Jan old pal..the future world of Stealthy is quite different. An all male stealth company as a holding companies behind closed doors.

I plan on running a crew of middle aged guys past the age of pussy, family and so on.

Ever sit at a table of computer engineers?
These guys could put a garbage can on the moon.

When you give men equity in projects then they are all in.

    Good luck finding us.

The point was that the company didn’t even acknowledge that a ” member of the family ” died.

    Focus on that.

That’s pretty s~~~ty. But do you really think a standard email from HR would somehow change the situation? Like a formal acknowledgement would change the way they care about you?

The tell-tale sign of how corps treat their employees – is how they let people go. If you found a different job – they expect you to give them a 2 week notice. If they let you go – would they give you a two week notice? There you have it

It is clear that the concept of “morale” is no longer understood by management in large companies.

Corporations, especially large ones, don’t value their employees at all. They use them and throw them out like a used tissue.

That was not always the case. Companies use to promote and train from within.

Though, these companies are all up to their necks in debt, with their hands out for corporate welfare.

This whole mess won’t last much longer.

I held about 30 different jobs including temp work. And here is what I came to realize – if a company is big enough to have its own HR department – don’t expect to be treated like a human being there

The only time anyone would care about you – if you can talk to the owner directly to resolve your grievances.

Oh, I know that. But, in modern times at least, companies don’t give a s~~~ about their employees anymore. All they care about is making money.

And making money is cool by itself, but companies these days will try to make money any way they can and they actually try to find loopholes in the law to try and gain more money. That’s what gets to me.

Most will also pander to SJWs because they’re afraid of getting sued or even fighting legal battles because it costs them more money.

I have a number of ex-Navy friends that went to work for Boring (Boeing) in Seattle and KC when they rotated out.

After a few years working corporate every one of them has basically said “The Company doesn’t care about me and won’t be loyal to me, so why should I care about it and be loyal to it?”

We used to do things better then this in America…
