Friday Night #METOO Hamster

So last night I pop in to my usual Friday night watering hole after work.

One of the regulars I’ll talk to is there. He’s in his early 60s, works a retail job nearby. He’s joined by a manager from his store — a 26-year old woman who is a new arrival to this country and who ticks all the right diversity boxes.

We’re talking, mostly about their work. She boldly brings up that she had a #metoo movement at work. She sits up straight and you can see she’s waiting for sympathy and affirmation.

Wait a minute, I say. So what was it? Can you talk about it?

So the story is she got the manager’s job ahead of 8 other candidates. Afterward, she gave out her personal phone number to a male co-worker who was one of the other candidates. She says she got “harassing messages” from him. The whole experience didn’t leave her feeling “empowered”.

That’s it? Doesn’t sound like you were victimized, I say. After all, you got the job. Sounds like YOU had bad judgement. Is it store policy that you as a manager have to give out your personal number to employees? No. So what will you as a manager do for a male employee getting the same messages on HIS personal phone? Nothing.

Well all this winds her up — no one has ever challenged Princess like this before. Hamster eruption. Buddy is jumping in to white knight for her. Let her talk, I say.

She doesn’t want to talk.

She’s typical. The sense of entitlement women have is incredible. Even when she wins, she is a victim. They accept responsibility for nothing. And no-one wants to be left out of #METOO.

Man, I feel sorry for guys in the Retail trade that have to work with these “People”. Wall Street learned its lesson. I hope more places do as well. Men should get out of companies that let people pull this kind of s~~~.
