Looked up the definition of facism in the dictionary :

1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

2 a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control

I don’t know much about US politics but I’m pretty sure most of the far-right groups are not that fond of the federal government so the definition which includes “a centralised autocratic government” doesn’t seem appropriate.

Whereas the definition of facism seems to fit the anti-fa groups quite well (and most of the lefties and possibly feminists as well).

As discussed in another excellent thread this sort of 1984 brainwashing redefining words and trying to destroy history is becoming more prevalent.

The Left is extremely good at changing language to meet its own needs. For example, the classic definition of being Liberal is the exact opposite of how the Left uses the term today. They needed something catchy, started calling themselves Liberals, and eventually changed the definition of the word.

In the 1960’s and 1970’s the Left was trying to make us terrified of Global Cooling. Then, when they realized that the earth wasn’t going to undergo an ice age, they switched to Global Warming. Then, when they realized that the earth wasn’t going to burn into a lifeless husk, they switched to Climate Change. Of course, it isn’t climate change as we know it; they just heard people say, “It isn’t global warming, it’s climate change,” so much that they changed climate change to mean that whatever climate changes are happening, it’s 100% the fault of humans. Whatever.

At any rate, joetech is right. If Hitler taught us anything it’s that if you say something catchy enough, loud enough, and enough times, it eventually gets accepted as the truth. The Left has mastered this technique. What the Right has mastered is promising us that they’ll crush the Left and then backing into a corner in the fetal position every time the opportunity arises.
