Of course. Appreciate all requests – even if we can’t implement them right away.
1. We have a way of marking posts as read by you before the title. We will put a marker there to indicate which have been read by you. All others would not be marked as “unread”. That would just be assumed. I’ll get to that right away, and possibly implement by tomorrow or sooner.
This would also list the topics you have not read, by clicking on your own avatar to visit your forum profile and look under “subscriptions”.
We will add a “MARK AS READ/UNREAD” link (top right) of every topic.
I will let you know right here and updated the change log. Let me see what I can do.
2. You can see which posts you posted on (I think) by clicking on your own avatar to visit your forum profile and look under “subscriptions”… let me look closer into the options here. Again, I’ll see if I can put an indicator on this for the user too.
3. Alert system… this is already in place, and if you check “notify me of follow up replies by email” (optional before clicking “SUBMIT”) , when someone replies (by quoting you) you will receive an email. The email goes into a queue. It may not go out IMMEDIATELY because if there are XXXX replies…. XXXX emails have to go out , so there must be a delay altough it’s USUALLY immediate.
Also, the mail system is MANUALLY turned on. SOMETIMES when the website clears it’s memory or the server restarts, the mail system remains down until someone manually starts it. This has prompted “gaps” where some users didn’t get a notice, but we’re trying to make sure they ALWAYS do. Not perfectly set up right now, but works and is reliable when it works and someone actually turned it on after a power outage or reboot.
4. Private Messages. OK have to look into this too. We may not do this immediately because some peoiple have voted against it. They just don’t want to be contacted. BUT! We have a mail forwarding system and are thinking about allowing this for a special membership tier *coming soon* whereby certain LEVELS of user can message someone with the same level. This prevents intruders or entry-level users from being able private message you (or anyone else). Let us go back and forth on this. But we have taken the request very seriously and want to work it in in some way.
We may even generate a “shout box” between users and have big plans to make the site more “social”, this is definitely in the works and we just requure patience because MGTOW.COM is not our full time work….. yet.
KeyMaster. I love the website and only want to see it improve. These improvements would be LOVED by people here. Please give boards.ign.com a chance for inspiration of what these forums could really be. These are some of the most cleanest, easy to read forums I have seen on the internet and is the reason I LOVE this website. Stuff like Reddit/Disqus/4chan are complete S~~~ compared to IGN.com’s forums and MGTOW’s forums.
