I’m getting fed up with living in the city. At this stage in my life, I don’t even really want to travel to different countries because I know most are all the same because they’re gynocentric in nature. I have a plan set out and I’m working towards a 10 year goal of getting a piece of land out in a more rural area. I also plan on building a 3 bedroom cabin on that land as well.
I’m currently looking for options career wise as to what people do for a living in rural areas. I just want to have a broader range of options before I end up moving.
I know that you would rather have personal stories of people who actually do live in a rural area in this message board, but I hope that the link can help get your answer faster. I would also like to hear some other people’s personal stories on what they do for a living in a rural area as well though.

Hmm, just because almost all countries are gynocentric doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate what MEN built there? I dunno where you live, but lots of people enjoy touring Europe for its castles, keeps, old city centers and whatnot. Give it a try!

Anything helps. I’d love to hear personal stories as well. And thanks for the article.
I know that, but I just don’t think I’d enjoy visiting other cities anymore. I was wanting to do that big time as a kid, but now it’s just like meh.
Currently living outside of a small town on a small acreage, and commute to a large city for work. It’s about a 40 min drive.
Have some friends in the city to stay with if I decide to go out for a night of drinks and socialize.
Best of both worlds.
I lived in the middle of nowhere for 2 years and found it hard to find work, there was work in hotels and tourism stuff because the area was a holiday destination for many. I found a little work in those sort of fields but the most consistent work was in actual fields but the farmers didn’t hire anyone, they just got their sons to help. Short version: If you want work in a rural area, get a farm.
I left to get away from my girlfriend whom I lived with in a small cottage out there, and I found work in the city almost instantly.
P.S. The exceptions are car mechanics, electricians and plumbers who seems to have work everywhere. My plan is to get a van and become an electrician.
I cut a lot of wood, it worked out to about 20$/hr untaxed but it was very hard work.
