Today’s world revolves around those 3 items that are all related to tangible material objects in one form or another.

Just like a disease that spreads quickly throughout a body those 3 have spread around the Globe in such a way that few seem to find it abnormal to be selfish, to be materialistic or to seek the latest expensive hi-tech gadget like a 1000$ latest smartphone.

A monk seeks out other values… those that can’t be seen, values of the spirit within, values that elevates us higher than the animal that just think of its next meal or hoarding enough food for the rough days ahead.

Materialism does not bring peace of mind no matter how much one accumulates. Once achieved his first million the millionaire is already scheming how to obtain the second one and so forth without ever experiencing any long term lasting contentment.

The earthy values that are associated with Materialism, Modernism and Egoism never fulfills the inner yearning of peace of mind and joy that one keeps going after throughout life.

You know the saying “He Who Dies With The Most Toys Wins” Right!! … but he is still dead on the inside!

I also love the following saying that describes well the concept of spirit longing versus earthly longing … Eating to Live or Living to Eat…. Becoming obese isn’t exactly enlightening N’est ce pas!

What comes to mind is how the Roman empire degenerated toward the end with too much indulgence leading (in my humble opinion) to its demise.

I can already hear what some Mgtow will be saying on here since we are MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way) and lots of us don’t want to throw away our wealth to some selfish, self centered and entitled modern feminist. Yes I understand that point very well gentlemen and I do agree wholeheartedly!

The point I am making today is that Yes being physically and financially self sufficient is quite pleasant & rewarding but in itself it will not bring peace and long lasting satisfaction.

Other non materialistic approach can bring such results. I have been living the monk life style for over 10 years (without giving away too many details) and I have learned that money isn’t everything in life (like the saying goes)

    Have a great day Gentlemen.

Money is freedom so I am not going to say it’s a bad thing. It is just the way it is. As such it is important to do the at least the basics in managing money like not wasting it on stupid things. How often have you spent money on something just to throw it out later at some point?

I work with people who update their phones every time a new one appears, who go on holidays and spend a fortune, buy new computers etc etc I am not saying be miserable and do nothing. But use some balance.

I totally agree, it’s a tool.. I believe that if we can use money đź’° as a tool it can be a great experience. You know the saying “money is a good servant, but a bad master”

Money is freedom so I am not going to say it’s a bad thing.

I’m a monk whom is far from broke at this point in time.

I have recently learned that I was right all along.. in my youth I lived for non materialistic values. I now use my money wisely and help people at every occasion that I have which brings me peace and joy!

When we say that “money is a good servant, but a bad master” money can be a terrible master when greed takes over your life.

I have always noticed that those who serve money the most are always working, looking for over time etc But they are also always spending.

I would rather make less, have a good work/life balance and not worry about having all the newest toys that come out. I drive a 2002 ford focus, I still have an apple I4S phone, I wear normal clothes some of which are pretty worn out.

I eat normal food mostly prepared by myself. Balance is the key. When I was younger I used to try and follow the same non materialistic approach but I do like my comforts too.

    Love this thread MACHO!

My passion for Electrical Engineering takes my mind above and beyond this rat race.

Most people in this world have nothing better to do that spend their entire life buying things they don’t need, in order to fill their monotonous life, giving them an artificial sense of accomplishment.

A tranquil mind is neither happy nor sad, it is uninfluenced by external conditions.

Money? As long as it’s not being stolen, manipulated, and swindled, but we know that’s what’s happening with the swindling thieves that go unpunished. Money has lost it’s founding principle, and that’s to be worth something.

Money is not everything. Make sure you earn a lot before speaking such nonsense.

But, you live in a first world country. Of course, you gonna blaspheme God.

I bought a second car, it is painted green but uses premium fuel. I depend on banks and credit card companies to take care of me and my needs. I am a slave to a c~~~ who makes 5X my income. I have to buy something every three hours to establish an alibi. I take medicine, probably not organic, but one of these meds makes me pee a lot. I rely on stupid people dropping money at drive ins, car washes and parking lots, I find two months rent in a year.

Hmmm, I’m not doing so well on this list of yours am I?

The way I MGTOW allows me to spend money on what’s important to me. I’m not trying to look wealthy to attract a woman or impress anyone. Material things become just so much stuff, experiences on the other hand incorporate into who you are.

They can’t take away from me what I’ve already danced.

So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains and we never even know we have the key. Eagles

My goal in life as far as money is concerned is to save enough at a young enough age that I’ll end up earning more money over my life time from capital gains than I will earn from punching a clock. I’m not interested in buying a big house and fancy cars, I’m more interested in buying my freedom from the rat race as young as possible.

Buying your freedom? Lol, unless you go live in a forest, there’s no way you can buy your freedom.

As long as you pay taxes, you’re a slave to the luciferian system.
