So, basically, I want to move out of the country and renounce citizenship. America has provided me nothing but trouble since I was born. I was bullied in so many schools, all of them, and I was a military kid. I later went into college, amounted debt and of course the work force. I was then bullied. At both two of my career jobs, I was bullied until I was fired. Now I’ve had it with America.
I’m thinking of learning Spanish and moving to a South American Country like Panama. There, they’ll give you $40,000 just to start a business. That is way more than America, which gives nothing, but taxes me to pay for stuff I don’t believe in.
The catch is I have student debt and I want to pay it off. I don’t mind bringing the debt with me, but it would probably be harder to pay it off should I move to Panama. Still, I could just abandon it completely and let the tax payers foot the bill. After all, I was bullied in the schools they forced me to attend, and failed to discipline the manipulative bullies in the work place.
Israel, Sweden, Australia, and England, are definitely off the menu.
Any tips?
I’m taking a trip to Germany in May, just a holiday at the moment but with a view to relocating.
I really don;t know much about the social structure of Germany or the laws etc, but it has always appealed to me since I was a child visitor to the place.
I now have a couple of friends there and will endeavor to find out more. I suspect it’s just as leftist as other western countries but as I can “Ghost” just about anywhere, that just leaves the scenery as a factor! LOL.
The harder the fight the sweeter the victory
AussieBloke: We are all going to be curious about your experiences there so keep us posted about your travel experiences man. Thank you!
Yup.
You should stay in America out of all countries is still best country to live in. You could work as a plummer, but also as programmer as myself if you have the discipline but its a really tough job and you need talent.
cheers my friend
Australia’s overdue for recession and combine that with our childish infantile populace, lack of growing industries and sky high private debts, the country is in for a hell of a downturn. And for me as a saver, I do not want to be anywhere near here when that happens (wealth tax on me to bail out selfish mortgage betas, no thanks)!
So I’ve been learning German for two months and am heading there in June for a 1 month ‘trial’ holiday. If all goes well I will make the move. The only issue with Germany is you can only get a permanent visa after working there for several years (under someone), investing 1 million EUR into a business or staying temporarily for 90 days at a time. If you know of any options to ghost in Germany, @AussieBloke I’d be interested to hear.
Ciao
If moving overseas is what you want then have you considered the implications as the good old US of A has been recently calling any American that renounces his citizenship as a traitor.
This is obliviously because like most western countries the US is technically bankrupt and living on borrowed money and borrowed time. So something to consider would be how easy is it to get a second passport, what are the tax implications of moving to a new country, the ease of learning the language and is there a lively expat community already there.
You mentioned Panama and this could be a good choice as they are currently offering a second passport (citizenship) for a reasonable investment. http://internationalliving.com/countries/panama/visa/
It will really depend on where you to go and what type of government you want as all western governments are pretty much the same. Feminism will be the same.
Other notable places that i have thought about in the past were Costa Rica http://www.second-citizenship.org/permanent-residence/permanent-residence-in-costa-rica/ http://www.therealcostarica.com/, Nicaragua http://internationalliving.com/countries/nicaragua/live-in-nicaragua/ and in Europe Andorra. http://www.livinginandorra.com/
The central american countries that have mentioned also do not charge tax for overseas income (so if you had a internet based business overseas you wouldn’t pay tax) Andorra is easy to set up a business and has only recently started charging tax at a low rate of 10%.
Personally as i live in europe i would pick Andorra as it is a short flight from my family.
A blog about overseas living and being tax efficient. http://nomadcapitalist.com/ This run by an american guy so shoould have good information for you.
Yo dude I have also considered this. Here are a few websites that I like and they will have some helpful info as well. Also there are expat websites and blogs that you can find that will help you decide which countries to visit. Anyways after considering it all, I have decided not to renounce and just be a regular expat.

Thanks a lot. This is a big decision for me. I don’t know for sure if I’ll ditch but I do hear a lot of things that bother me. The American system is failing. It’s definitely socialized a ton since Obama, but it’s not all Obama’s fault. I hate to say it, but a lot of the damage was done by Bush. Three things come to mind: stimulus money that went to China, Federal Aid for education, and the housing bubble. Arguably he actually made the housing bubble burst sooner than later. Still we have the other two issues. Other people might want to add the war and could argue this way and that but it’s not certain. I believe they had the WMDs. Yeah, totally conservative mindset here, sue me.
It goes back to Clinton actually, since he opened the door to trade with China, but our businesses were not competitive. Back to the future, we bailed out the slovenly businesses. Can you believe that? Our government paid money to bad businesses. Just… I can’t find the words.
It goes further than that. Nixon didn’t really help either. He set up the economy to really suck. Sure, legalizing fructose as a sugar substitute stabilized food prices, but now we’re so bloody fat it’s not even funny. It’s hurting women more actually, since their estrogen makes the put on more fat. Now look at our options.
The issue goes back further still, with the New Deal, which fundamentally changed our government. They started allowing the government to make laws not explicitly forbidden by the constitution instead of expressly permitted. We also switched over from civil rights to human rights. Civil rights are like the right to free speech, but human rights are like the right to not go hungry. So, if I’m hungry, I’m to be fed. Maybe I should just get a job, right? No, you feed me, you privileged piece of s~~~.
The understanding of freedom has been warped since the founders of the constitution. We had a strong culture that valued freedom and responsibility. Women weren’t the same as they are today. They were strong too, and they didn’t want the vote. Marriages had equity and divorces weren’t common. Morals were taught and instilled. People knew boundaries and didn’t push it.
Since the constitution and the Revolutionary War, children had a knowledge of freedom instilled into them. They desired to fight and protect them. They had a minimalist government that only wanted to protect them and they depended on the free, critical thinking of the population to vote for what’s best for America.
Next came the bustling robust economy. Then industry exploded over night. After that, our stock market crashed and things went terrible. So, Hoover went out of office and Theodore Roosevelt took over. He expanded the government drastically. He put us into debt, and started all these agencies. We were going to recover had Theodore not done anything, since our economy did show signs of recovery. Sadly, the debt has only gotten worse, to a nightmarish 17 trillion. Some say it’s actually 70 trillion.
Now critical thinking is gone and the population is terribly corrupt. We actually think our narratives are going to work. The blaming and the thievery.
I’ve talked to this business developer who says our best talent is leaving the country. Many would actually come to America, get educated, and become doctors. Now, the government screws them. So, they leave. Except that the government pays 100K (or 300K, I’m not sure) to train doctors. So, we’re just dumping out money. If you want knee surgery, it’ll cost you 14K here, or 2.5K in another country. Might as well go and get some sunshine while you’re at it.
This is how things looked before Germany went Nazi.
Hi there, thought it would be important to respond to this.
I work outside of my country and if you have a passport to the big 5 (USA, Canada, Britain, Ireland, South Africa) you can pull an ESL job no problem. Without your passport you are completely worthless. I’ve worked in about 7 countries now and there is always a way to get you in if you have the right ‘credential’. You can easily survive in pretty well any non-English speaking country just by giving English lessons or working at schools. As I write this, I’m sitting in China. Do not give up your passport, its your window to the world. Lots of Americans here in China making about $3000 per month and saving more than 3/4 of it. I have a 360, nice computer, ton of boardgames and a sweet projector setup in a 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment costs me about $450/month and food runs us around $300/month (but I usually only eat western). Utilities are around $20 every 3 months…
The job is simple enough and I have a bunch of expat friends, one of them actually pointed me to your forum. So hold on tight to that passport man..
Also you can go down to Mexico and live for $150/month for a decent sized 2 bedroom apartment. You would only need to work 6 months at home and the other 6 could be spent south of the border, soaking up the sun.

As they say “the grass is always greener on the other side” I for one couldn’t agree more with that and I kind of “been there done that” albeit only lived in two countries so far. My home country (Germany) and in the UK. After having stayed there long enough –> a bit over 5 years back then theoretically I could have applied for a second UK passport but unfortunately had myself talked out of that by some of my family members. Now in retrospect (being back in Germany which is indeed as leftist as any other western country and equally bound for a massive downfall just like Australia, because Germany mostly relies on exports with a huge staggering and somewhat unfair export surplus that they have, rather than building up a real healthy inner economy; once this surplus will fall, oh dear oh dear…!) I consider myself extremely stupid that I didn’t do that (getting a second passport or better still toss my German one). I almost tend to think that I was born with the wrong native language by now, as for me even if I did get an ESL diploma or certificate, despite my very English language articulate skills I would hardly ever be allowed to give English lessons ie. conversational courses which is kind of sad really although ultimately I would just love to go abroad again to live virtually anywhere else but in my home country almost like: “I’m a bilingual German get me out of here…!”
For the time being I very much consider myself quite unhappily stuck and imprisoned here (for the lack of cash to spare for any move). First thing I shall do once I might somehow be able to generate a considerable amount of cash will be leaving and get happy elsewhere, you bet guys.
And I find it quite appalling that whatever your dreams and entrepreneurial endeavours are in this day and age it all has to start with quite a bit of solid cash first to generate even more of it. Having lots of good ideas as for the latter aspect it is that, which sickens me beyond measures. Right now I am quite desperately trying to make ends meet and to avoid any further damage that I already faced in recent years during my slow but albeit steady decline and in all seriousness asking myself: Was that really it..?

Anybody have specific experience as an American moving to Latin America/South America/Asia? Looking for somewhere warm, cheap, but safe too where I can have some type of income…tired of paying a grand a month for a studio apt here in the states.
I’ve seen some decent flats in Portugal/Spain for under 50k, only problem is that as an American in the EU you could only be there for 90 days out of a 180 day period.
Ah, a topic near to my heart…and experience. I first came to Costa Rica in January of 2001. I liked it, it was cheap, and I made new friends fast. I came back several times a year for the next 5 years. I turned 55 in January or ’06, took early retirement and was living here within two weeks. A few thoughts:
1- Never renounce your citizenship. If the s~~~ ever hits the fan, you can always go home. The US has its faults, but it’s still the safest place to be. 2- Wherever you decide to try, go there for 6 months first. Rent, don’t buy (car, furniture, anything). Get to know the place and the pitfalls of trying to do business, dealing with the bureaucracy, the habits of the local populace…everything you can. Don’t wear rose colored glasses. Every paradise has its warts. 3- Red tape in Latin American countries is astounding. Think Department of Motor Vehicles on steroids. Just to put money in my own account, I have to take a number at the bank, wait for a teller to call that number, and then listen to why I can’t make the deposit if I don’t have my passport. My CR driver’s license will not work. It doesn’t matter that the license number is the same as my passport (by law). I have to have my passport. After the first time you learn to take it with you, but you never like it. 4- Every shop or store you go into has the slowest cashier you’ve ever seen. And virtually every one of them takes a break after every 3 customers. They search the entire country for them. “Hey, señorita, you’re slower than the second coming. How would you like to be a cashier.” If they’re too dumb to be a cashier, they go to work for the ministry of shuffling papers in the government.
I could go on a rant that would take pages. Been here a long time. Some of it is great…some of it is ridiculously inane. The key is, you have to have the temperament. And you won’t know if you do until you try it for 6 months…or a year.
Where to go?
Costa Rica is beautiful but has become expensive as Hell. Nicaragua is cheap, but dirt poor. Panama is an oven unless you get into the mountains and the mountains can be expensive. Ecuador is beautiful and cheap. If I knew then what I know now, I’d have gone to Ecuador. Added bonus; there are about 20 (count ’em, 20) good looking women in Ecuador. Half of them are married and half the rest are under age. So you ain’t likely to be tempted. Costa Rican women are stunning (as are Colombian women). You better be solidly grounded in MGTOW philosophy if you spend time in either one of these places. In any of these countries, your employment opportunities will be virtually non-existent without residency (see point #3 above) and extremely limited with residency.
Sorry to have rambled on so long (I cut it short). I’ll leave you with two thoughts: 1- If you can leave your problems behind you, great; give it a try. If your psychological makeup is the problem, you’ll solve nothing and waste a lot of money doing it. 2- Never, never, never renounce your citizenship.Anyone have thoughts on or experience with Belize?

Buy a block or land or house in The Bahamas. You only need to spend 8 weeks a year in The Bahamas or Caribbean and you can open a tax free bank account in Nassau or Cayman’s.
As for the Aussie guy’s above, I am Australian and lived in Germany for 2 years, you’ll have a blast and you’ll soon realize what a s~~~-hole Australia is. Geographically Australia is gorgeous but as for society and the financials. It’s over…

Dude f~~~ the debt. If you’re going to renounce just don’t pay it.
