I think the ban only applies to importing foreign movies. Home grown Chinese movies or movies where the majority of the investors are Chinese can have all the ghosts they want. I think the rule comes from a combination of protectionism, party racketeering, and bizarre communist anti-religion dogma. Things get a little weird, too, if Hong Kong is involved. It also seems to be selectively applied. Like it’s used more as an excuse to ban movies they didn’t want to let into the country anyways.

This may not be true but I read that they aren’t pushing the movie to China because the first two movies weren’t released there and this reboot won’t have any nostalgic appeal.

Sounds like bulls~~~ to me. If the movie is the most fantastic thing ever as the lefties/femtards are claiming then it should be able to stand on its own.
