I’d tend to feel sorrier for her if the REAL reason for the suicide was sorrow at losing her mother. It probably was a contributing factor, but it was more likely the direct result of her being crazy in the first place…

And the fact that the article is blaming the boyfriend and men in society in general for not being worthy enough to provide her with a husband and kids doesn’t make me any more sympathetic. I don’t think this means anything outside of the fact that she very clearly had mental problems. If it was a man with the same mental problems everyone would just outright laugh at him. Since it’s a woman, most people will have sympathy for her. Although when you’re dead you’re dead, so it won’t even matter.

I take no pleasure either, and I don’t know what led her down this path but why, even on here, is the suicide of one woman more significant than the suicide of a man?

Since society don’t care about male suicide (indeed there aren’t articles about similar, and more common, male suicides) the only way to achieve equality is having more female suicides.
