So I’ve been working with a colleague on a project lately and pretty early on she made it clear that she wasn’t looking for any physical involvement. Right, we’re talking about Photoshop and you bring up sex as if work can not be done until the “tryna fuk?” question is resolved.
“Of course not, I regret if you thought otherwise. So then you click here…”
Things proceed fine. Work gets done despite the fact that she’s pretty overtly sexual and flirty and spends a fair amount of energy trying to get me to want her, which I don’t. She’s got a gorgeous face and good hips to waist but she’s 5’8″, 145 and that’s just too big for me. I like to be the man-sized one in bed.
Fast forward a few days and there’s a work related event one evening. I ask her to accompany me, she accepts, we go.
The event turns out to be s~~~ so I suggest we go have dessert and a drink at a local fancy restaurant and we’ll bill it to the company. Sounds good.
Over the course of the next two hours she goes from sitting totally across the table from me to being practically in my lap. You know how it is with an attractive woman, got to push the boundaries, get attention and maneuver a man into a place where she can get one up on him.
I allowed this to happen without encouraging it until we got back to my place where she’d left her car.
“Can I have a nap before going home? I’m a little drunk.”
“Sure. I’ll get you a blanket.”
Now here’s where I start to thinking. This sexual tension thing has to break. I’m going to be working with this woman and I need to nip the bulls~~~ in the bud and do it now. And I like to live dangerously. So when I bring the blanket back to her, I lie down with her and she instantly curls up next to me and puts her face near mine, very obviously inviting me to make a move.
Which I do. Now let’s be clear… I do not want to f~~~ this woman. I enjoy looking at her face from across my desk, but I do not desire any form of sexual relationship with her.
So I go in for the “courtesy pass” and she jerks away. Three hours of warming up to me so she could draw the foul… totally predictable.
“I don’t want to be the kind of girl who looks like she’s trying to sleep her way to success by giving my co-workers what they want.”
“Honestly, I don’t want it. Drunken makeouts might be fun, though… maybe next time.”
After that, I roll over and go to sleep. About an hour later I get up, clean up a bit and put in a few more hours of work while she sleeps it off. She leaves at 4am and that’s it. The next day at work it’s as if it never happened.
My hope is that she will keep things professional, but I doubt it. I gave her the right of refusal and she took it. But I suspect she’ll keep pushing to get me to make a move on her.
Now the fun goes to me. I get to officially act like her femininity does not exist and treat her like a bro. In fact, I’ve started calling her “bro”. With luck, she’ll redirect her attentions to someone else but if she doesn’t and things come to a head like this again, I get to tell her my favorite line of late:
“One woman, one chance.”
