Anonymous42I’ve noticed throughout my life as men became utilities, women became single mothers, and children became wards of the court, father & sons business have all but vanished.
A trend “I believe” is directly related to the rise of feminism and the subsequent effect it had on men in this society.
I see far to many boys and young men that have no skills whatsoever. A lost generation? Or is it economic factors I don’t see. The fall of Mom & Pop businesses seem to correlate. is this a missing economic sector, or is it just so called progress? Any comments or statistics are welcome…..
It use to be that a son would usually takeover his dads business, in today’s world unless your in a tech background small business have a serious uphill climb to get anywhere. Plus with it being a tech based world that is where the money is and with the economic state being in the toilet you have to chase the money where it goes. Growing up in a rural area I remember seeing small farms as a kid, all but one or two are gone now. Farming has gone the way of every other business in being corporatized. I jokingly tell people its the only occupation you start as a millionaire and work yourself broke. Sadly many father and son businesses seem to end up being the same way or the son just isn’t into going down the same career path as his father.

My father introduced me to Oklahoma tire and supply company…everything from toys to tires and even batteries.. my first BB gun and bicycle came from OTASCO….I can remember asking about the hunting rifles before I was 18..The store clerk just grabbed the one I was looking at and put it in my hands…The days when suspicions were low, life was simple and good lunch could be had for $2 or $3. including the drink….

I was bound to be misunderstood, and I laugh at those who misunderstand me. Kind mockery at the well intentioned, but unfettered cruelty towards those would be prison guards of my creative possibilities. This so as to learn as much from misunderstanding as from understanding. Taking pleasure in worthy opponents and making language fluid and flowing like a river yet pointed and precise as a dagger. Contradicts the socialistic purpose of language and makes for a wonderful linguistic dance, A verbal martial art with constant parries that hone the weapon that is the two edged sword of my mouth.
