It’s been a hell of a ride… be well, gentlemen. If this site does shut down, hopefully I’ll see at least some of you on one or more of the alternative sites.

I joined in 2016, a few months after my (now ex-) wife moved out, though I refrained from posting until after the divorce was final. I can credit this specific site for helping me understand what happened (even if I can’t change something, it helps my mind let it go if I understand *why* it happened), keeping me from sinking back in to the Blue Pill abyss, and for my decision to go Monk.

I will check as well. A little intrigue: The domain names’s registration was “updated 22 hours ago” but is still set to expire tomorrow (21st). Not sure what was updated, but this may signal an impending change. I am hoping that another mgtow site grabs it, but chances are it will end up in hands of a bad actor. Use caution in providing any information to this site after today.

The Registrar is GoDaddy — pretty typical to register through a provider who provides hosting services.

The admin and tech contacts are a third-party (to provide anonymity).

There may be a period of grace to allow forgetful clients to resubscribe. Perhaps they send out a few reminders before cutting you off.

My experience with WHOIS is no grace period. As soon as expiration date is reached, domain is available for purchase. You get the reminders sent beforehand to your technical contact and by your hosting service starting a year before expiration.

When the clock strikes midnight (I am assuming west coast time) you would need to purchase domain name once it shows as available.

This can be done directly with WHOIS.com or another hosting company — I use register.com

Both have a domain search feature. Type in name mgtow.com and it will display if available for purchase.

If available you will have option to purchase online. Sounds easy right? However the problem is that this domain name is coveted by both supporters of mgtow and its detractors (and squators looking to buy and resale at a premium). So it will be a race to purchase. Plus I suspect someone already has the inside track on buying this… possibly b/c of court order since it shows status of “no client renewal”, i.e. it might not even hit open market.

There is a second piece to that puzzle though.

The domain name only controls where the url mgtow.com is routed to. In this case it is a GoDaddy hosting service. All the code for this site’s content and features reside on their servers.

Hosting also costs money. Who knows how much longer the GoDaddy service is paid for? That is not a publicly available subscription which can be renewed. We would need access to KM’s GoDaddy account to pay the bill and keep the lights on.

While I have contemplated trying to purchase the domain to keep it from being re-routed to anti-mgtow site, odds are slim I will beat whomever to the checkout.

Even if I did, this site’s lifespan is nearing an end without anyone paying the GoDaddy hosting bill (not to mention no admin access to service the site).

Last note. If someone else buys the domain name and redirects URL, it can take a couple days for the change to propagate through the Internet’s domain name services (DNS) … and also update in your computer’s/phone’s cache.

So this site will likely still be accessible tomorrow.

Tangent: Even if what I predict comes to pass, there is a workaround from a PC to access site for as long as it is hosted by GoDaddy. I was thinking of using workaround so I could continue to read old posts. If anyone else is interested, I could post instructions on new forum once we are at that point.

Agreed. Note that when you select “remember me” you don’t have to re-login when accessing site.

So if you get prompted to login tomorrow or next day, you should assume a new host with possible bad intentions.

I am keeping an eye on the IP routing and will post on new forum if/when I see a redirect to a new server.
